Royal Victoria kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Developer carcasses are thin cam-lock chipboard, which is entirely adequate under laminate and wants bracing before stone. Two to three hours on site, once the units are fitted, fixed and level. Units fitted, fixed and level first.
Dockside apartments have open-plan kitchens set along a single wall with a 2.8m to 3.2m run, a tall bank of integrated appliances and an island only in the larger corner units.
Duplex and penthouse units carry the bigger specifications, including waterfall island ends and full-height matching splashbacks. The dock roads are wide with proper loading laybys and no market or terraced-street congestion, so getting the van in is genuinely easy. The buildings are the constraint: booked goods lift, concierge sign-in, insurance documents on file, and event days at the nearby exhibition centre bring temporary traffic management. Big exhibition events shut down the approach roads at short notice, so check the venue calendar before committing to a fit date.
A riverside block is a managed building with a booked goods lift, a loading bay and a concierge, and all three have to line up on the same day. The template records that corner as it is, so the mitre closes tight instead of being cut to a theoretical 90 degrees. Recorded as it is, not as it was drawn.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to 2000s dockside apartment block, 2015 onwards tower and converted dock building. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered on our east London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The shape of the run
Two parallel runs with a walkway between them is the most efficient shape there is on a slab, because both pieces nest as straight lengths with almost no waste. The template records every angle in that shape as it actually is rather than as the plan drew it. The drawing leaves site complete.

What gets asked for here
This is not the local speciality and there is no point saying otherwise: worktop installation, worktop replacement and worktop design & quotation is what the housing here actually asks for. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way regardless.

Getting stone into a Royal Victoria kitchen
The dock roads are wide with proper loading laybys and no market or terraced-street congestion, so getting the van in is genuinely easy. The buildings are the constraint: booked goods lift, concierge sign-in, insurance documents on file, and event days at the nearby exhibition centre bring temporary traffic management.
Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop templating in Royal Victoria
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Royal Victoria?
Yes. Royal Victoria is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are E16. It is worked on our east London run, along with the rest of Newham. On an event day the controls are wider, tighter and enforced harder than the signage suggests on any other morning of the week. It is noted on the job sheet at template so the fitting crew inherit the answer rather than rediscovering it. The templater needs a proper stop, not a pause. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Royal Victoria change how worktop templating works?
A riverside block is a managed building with a booked goods lift, a loading bay and a concierge, and all three have to line up on the same day. The room is square and the plasterboard is not, so the internal corner is recorded as it is rather than as ninety degrees. Two to three hours, once the units are in. Big exhibition events shut down the approach roads at short notice, so check the venue calendar before committing to a fit date.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Royal Victoria?
The dock roads are wide with proper loading laybys and no market or terraced-street congestion, so getting the van in is genuinely easy. The buildings are the constraint: booked goods lift, concierge sign-in, insurance documents on file, and event days at the nearby exhibition centre bring temporary traffic management. Where the lift will not take the longest run we design a join in rather than gamble, because a piece that will not go up has to go back on the van. A template taken without walking the route produces a drawing that cuts beautifully and will not go in. It goes on the drawing with the run dimensions.
Do you get much worktop templating work in Royal Victoria?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop installation, worktop replacement and worktop design & quotation. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. Rear and side-return extensions are where the islands appear, and an island is the piece that decides whether one slab does the kitchen or two. No stone is ever cut from a plan, which is inconvenient exactly when a programme is tight. Units fitted, fixed and level first. A new extension slab is not automatically level, and that wants checking before templating rather than after the stone is cut. Two to three hours on site, with the sink, tap and hob physically present. The room as it is, not as it was drawn.
Why do two Royal Victoria kitchens the same size price differently?
A galley puts the sink on one side and the hob on the other, which spreads the cut-outs across two pieces instead of weakening one. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. One datum for the whole room. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Where a partition has been built off the floor screed rather than off the slab, it moves, and a mitre bonded across that corner is the first thing to open. One measurement never describes it, which is why a tape reading taken before the visit rarely matches the template. Plotted, not estimated. Boards taped or skimmed and finished, units fixed back to the wall and levelled off, and the appliances on site - the wall must be at its final thickness on template day, so no tiler or splashback fitter gets ahead of the worktop. Mixed ownership means the decision-maker is not always the person who lets us in, so it is worth being clear early about who signs the quote off. The template happens when the units are in, fixed and level, whoever is fitting them. No stone is cut from a plan.
