These terms

These terms apply to work carried out by Worktop Worx Ltd. They form part of your contract with us alongside your written quotation, which sets out the specific surface, finishes and price agreed.

Where your quotation says something different from these terms, the quotation takes precedence.

Quotations

A quotation is based on the information available when it is prepared: your plans, your measurements or a site visit. It itemises the surface, the area, each cut-out, the edge profile and any upstands or splashbacks.

Quotations are valid for 30 days. Until a template has been taken, the area quoted is an estimate; the final area is confirmed from the template and the price is adjusted where it differs materially. We will tell you before proceeding if that happens.

Deposit and payment

A deposit is payable to book the template visit and reserve your material. The balance is payable before installation unless your quotation states otherwise.

Your slab is cut specifically for your kitchen from the template. Once fabrication has begun the material cannot be reused, which is why the balance falls due at that point.

Preparing for the template visit

A template records your kitchen exactly as it stands, so the room has to be in its final state. Before we arrive:

• Base units must be fitted, level and secured in their final positions.
• Any Belfast or butler sink must be installed and in place, as the cut-out is worked around the actual bowl.
• Sinks, taps, hobs and any appliances that sit in the worktop must be on site so we can check the cut-out dimensions.
• Old worktops should be removed where the new stone replaces them, unless we have agreed to do this.
• The room must be clear enough to work in and get accurate measurements.

If we arrive and the kitchen is not ready, the visit cannot go ahead and a further visit will need to be arranged. A charge may apply for the aborted visit; we will always tell you beforehand if we think there is a risk of this.

Fabrication and joins

Slabs come in finite sizes, so runs longer than a single slab require a join. We place joins where they are structurally sound and least visible, and we will tell you where they will fall before fabrication begins. A visible join line is normal and is typically 2–3mm.

Natural stone varies. Granite is quarried, so colour, veining and pattern differ between slabs and from any sample or photograph. Engineered surfaces vary between production batches. Where a job spans more than one slab we cut from the same batch wherever possible.

Installation

We fit the worktop, scribe it to your walls, seal the joins and clean down. Walls are rarely straight and installation includes making the stone fit the room as it is.

We do not connect plumbing, gas or electrical services. Taps, sinks, hobs and appliances need to be connected by an appropriately qualified trade after installation. We will fit the stone around them and prepare the cut-outs, but the final connection is not part of our work unless your quotation says so.

Variations

Changes requested after the template has been taken (a different edge profile, an extra cut-out, a change of surface) may affect both the price and the installation date. Any variation will be confirmed in writing before we act on it.

Cancellation

You may cancel before the template visit and we will refund your deposit less any costs already incurred in reserving material.

Once the template has been taken and fabrication has begun, the material has been cut to your kitchen and cannot be cancelled or returned.

Where you have ordered as a consumer at a distance, your statutory cancellation rights apply, except in respect of goods made to your specification, which stone cut from your template is.

Guarantees

We provide a 25-year material warranty (residential installations) and a 5-year workmanship guarantee (every kitchen we fit). They cover different things over different periods.

Liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

We are not liable for delays outside our reasonable control, though we will tell you promptly and work to minimise the effect.
