Kitchen worktops in Watford, St Albans and south Hertfordshire

Templated and fitted across St Albans, Rickmansworth, Hemel Hempstead, Harrow, Bushey, Barnet, Berkhamsted and Chorleywood. We measure in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen.

Working in Hertfordshire & North London

Hertfordshire is the patch with the widest spread of kitchen types. In one week we might template a developer kitchen on a new estate and a 200-year-old cottage where nothing has been level since it was built.

That range is why we template digitally rather than working from the kitchen plan. A plan tells you what the fitter intended. A template tells you what the room actually did.

Watford is a service area, not an address

There is nowhere here to walk into and nothing to collect. We template in your kitchen, cut the stone in our workshop and fit it in your kitchen. If you want to hold a surface before deciding, we post samples out free.

The kitchens on this patch

Hertfordshire & North London

A lot of the work sits in post-war and 1930s semis through Watford, Bushey, Harrow and Barnet: solid, square-ish rooms where the kitchen has been reworked once or twice and the units are better than the tops on them.

Around Hemel Hempstead and the newer estates, kitchens tend to come as a package with the house: decent carcasses and a laminate top that gives up first. Replacing just the surface is the obvious upgrade, and it is a job that lives or dies on the template being right first time.

Out towards Chorleywood, Rickmansworth and Berkhamsted the properties get bigger and older. Larger islands, second prep areas, utility rooms and boot rooms, and floors that have settled enough to matter when you are levelling a run of stone.

Access

Getting a slab to your door here

Access is generally kinder than in London. Most houses have a drive or a road we can stop on. The constraint here is distance rather than parking. Berkhamsted to Barnet is a wide patch, so we group template and fitting slots by area and give you dates that hold instead of a window we then move.

The exceptions are worth flagging when you book. Newer estates part-way through build can have unmade roads and contractor parking. Older properties out towards the Chilterns edge sometimes have a porch or a turn on the stairs that a full slab will not pass, which changes where we put the join before we cut, not after.

3–7 days

Working days working days from template, on this patch the same as every other.

Our own installers

The person who templates your kitchen briefs the person who cuts it. Nothing is subcontracted out on the way.

Near the edge of this patch?

Ask before you assume either way. Plenty of the kitchens we fit sit between the towns listed below, and if we genuinely cannot reach you properly we will say so rather than take a deposit.

Surfaces

Every colour we fit around Watford

The full library is the same wherever you are on our patches: quartz, granite and sintered stone from £110/m² supply. Filter by material and colour, then order samples of the two or three you are actually deciding between.

Judge it in your own kitchen

Stone changes character under different lighting. A sample sitting on your units at nine in the evening tells you more than any screen or lightbox will. That is the whole reason we post them rather than ask you to travel.

Questions

What people ask us around Watford

The ones that come up on this patch specifically. If yours is not here, ring and ask. You will get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.

Do you cover St Albans, Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted, or only Watford?

The whole patch: St Albans, Rickmansworth, Hemel Hempstead, Harrow, Bushey, Barnet, Berkhamsted and Chorleywood. It is a wide area, which is why we group template and fitting days by the part of it you are in rather than working through jobs in the order they arrive. If your town is not on that list, ask, and you will get a yes or a no rather than a maybe.

The units in our estate kitchen are fine but the laminate has had it. Can you just change the tops?

Yes, and on newer estate kitchens it is usually a clean job, because the carcasses are square, level and properly fixed from the outset. The old tops come out in the morning and the stone goes down the same afternoon. What you organise is a plumber to disconnect the tap and waste before we arrive and to come back at the end of the day, because we seat and seal but never connect water or electrics.

Can we have the kitchen and the utility room in the same stone?

Yes, and order them together. Engineered stone is produced in batches and granite varies slab to slab, so cutting both rooms from the same reserved slabs at the same time is the only way to be sure they still match in a year. If you add the utility later we will cut it, but we cannot promise the batch match, and where two pieces meet that difference shows.

Our floors have settled and the units are not level. What happens then?

It gets sorted before we template rather than after. Templating is taken off units that are fitted, fixed and level, because stone is cut once and a base unit that moves four millimetres afterwards leaves a gap you cannot fill invisibly. We level and pack on fitting day where we can, but a run that is badly out will still read badly against a straight stone edge, so we tell you at template what needs doing first.

Can you quote from our kitchen designer’s plans?

Yes. Send the plans, or a sketch with rough measurements taken along the wall, and an indicative range comes back the same working day. It becomes a fixed itemised quote once the sink, tap, hob and edge profile are settled. What we will not do is cut from a plan. The drawing the machine follows always comes from the template, taken in the room.

Will you deal with our kitchen fitter directly?

Gladly, and it usually saves a week. Give us their number and we will agree the template date with them so nobody turns up to a half-installed kitchen. The two things they need to have done are the base units fitted and level, and your sink and hob physically on site. Ordered is not the same as present, and cut-outs are machined to the actual item.

Do you charge for coming out to measure?

Quotations and samples cost nothing and carry no obligation. The first money that changes hands is the deposit, taken at the template stage once the room has been measured properly, and the balance is due before installation. Nothing is cut until you have approved a written price, and changes are priced and agreed with you before any work is done.

We are at the Berkhamsted end of the patch. Does that mean a longer wait than Watford?

No. It is 3–7 working days from template to fitted worktop wherever you are on this patch. What distance changes is which day we can offer, not how many days you wait. Grouping template and fitting slots by area is what keeps those dates honest across a patch that runs from Berkhamsted to Barnet.

Our estate is still being built. Is that a problem for delivery?

Only if we find out about it on the morning. Unmade roads, contractor parking and a site entrance that moves week to week all change how close a van gets to the door, and stone is heavy enough for that to matter. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and we plan the crew and the piece sizes around it.

You have no premises near us, so who actually turns up, and who do I call afterwards?

Our own installers, not a subcontracted crew. The person who templates your kitchen briefs the person who cuts it. Afterwards you ring the same number, +44 7830 847489. You have a 25-year material warranty on the stone for residential installations, and a 5-year workmanship guarantee on our fabrication and fitting, for every kitchen we fit. Both are stated on your quote.

Next step
