Ealing Broadway kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Old plaster built up over decades makes the scribing heavy, and that time has to be in the plan rather than found on the day. The fitting day is planned backwards from all of it, before the first piece comes off the van. Sink and hob seated and sealed before we go.
Purpose-built mansion-block flats where the kitchen is still the original service room, giving a single 2.5m to 3m run with no scope to move anything, alongside new tower apartments with a peninsula and integrated appliances.
Mansion-block leases usually forbid moving services, so the top is designed around where the waste and the gas already sit, not around where the client wants the sink.
External walls are thick and the run under the window sits in a deep reveal that has to be templated rather than assumed square. The porter has to be booked, the goods lift protected with the block's own blankets or our own boards, and communal carpet and stair runners covered from the entrance to the flat door before a single piece moves. That is the shape of the day.
The mix here is Edwardian mansion block, Victorian villa conversion, 1930s purpose-built flat and 2020s town-centre tower. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
True everywhere
Worktop installation, in short
- One visit. A straightforward run is a morning; an island and splashbacks take most of the day.
- Every piece is carried in by hand, and stone does not bend.
- We seat and seal the sink and hob. We do not connect water, waste, gas or electrics.
- Floors and units are protected before anything comes through the door.
Covered on our west London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The building, and what it does to the job
The block's permitted works hours and the booked goods lift slot, which set a hard stop on the day whatever stage we are at.

Getting stone into the room
Town-centre controlled parking, a red route along the Uxbridge Road, and mansion blocks with narrow lifts or no lift at all. The new towers need a booked service lift and a timed loading bay.
The lift has to be booked and blanketed before anything moves, and that booking needs to cover the old tops coming out as well as the new stone going in. Finding it out on the morning costs the whole slot, because there is no second route to fall back on. None of it is worked out on the doorstep.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop installation in Ealing Broadway
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Is Ealing Broadway on your patch?
Yes. Ealing Broadway is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are W5. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Ealing. The realistic answer on a main road is an early slot, a spotter on the van and pieces staged in one movement rather than several trips. A van that has to move mid-fit costs the best part of an hour and takes a man off the tools to do it. We would rather ask than guess. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Why would worktop installation in Ealing Broadway be any different from anywhere else?
External walls are thick and the run under the window sits in a deep reveal that has to be templated rather than assumed square. The porter has to be booked, the goods lift protected with the block's own blankets or our own boards, and communal carpet and stair runners covered from the entrance to the flat door before a single piece moves. Walked, measured, protected, then lifted. Mansion-block leases usually forbid moving services, so the top is designed around where the waste and the gas already sit, not around where the client wants the sink.
How would you get a worktop into a property in Ealing Broadway?
Town-centre controlled parking, a red route along the Uxbridge Road, and mansion blocks with narrow lifts or no lift at all. The new towers need a booked service lift and a timed loading bay. The lift has to be booked and blanketed before anything moves, and that booking needs to cover the old tops coming out as well as the new stone going in. Finding it out on the morning costs the whole slot, because there is no second route to fall back on. None of it is worked out on the doorstep.
Do you do much worktop installation around Ealing Broadway?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop replacement. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. A worktop replacement between tenancies is a single-day job by design, because the flat is not earning while it is empty. The fitting day is scheduled to suit that rather than to suit the diary. Sealed before we leave. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. Where the window is fixed there is no second day to fall back on, so the prep list matters more than usual. One visit, done properly.
What moves the number on a quote around here?
The free end is what needs deciding early: square edge, mitred apron down the end, or a full waterfall to the floor, and a waterfall is cut in sequence off the same part of the slab. On the day that means dry-laying the whole layout first and only then pulling and bonding the joins. Dry-lay first, always. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What needs to be ready before you come to Ealing Broadway?
A notch around a boxed stack is machined with a radius at the internal corner, because a square inside corner there is exactly where a top will crack. On the day it means dry-laying, marking, and cutting the scribe on site before anything is bonded. Eased in, never forced. Have the works booking confirmed with the managing agent or porter in advance, with the lift slot and any parking permit or bay suspension in place. Where ownership is split across a building, the common parts belong to someone else and the carry route is negotiated rather than assumed. The fitting day is arranged with whoever can actually give us access for the whole slot. Protection goes down first.
