Eastcote kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
A side passage and a back door mean the stone rarely has to come through the house, which changes the job more than most people expect. Two to three hours on site, once the units are fitted, fixed and level. Units fitted, fixed and level first.
Larger detached and chalet-style houses with generous kitchens, islands with a seating overhang, and a run of pantry or larder units. More design consultation here than straight replacement.
Seating overhangs past 300mm need steel flat bar or a ply subframe, because the 20mm engineered stone people ask for will not cantilever on its own. The Field End Road parade is the only pinch point and its bays are time-limited. Wide leafy roads with in-and-out drives.
Where the roof has been converted there is usually a steel over the kitchen that went in after the walls, and the run beneath it is worth checking for square. The sill height over the sink is settled on site, because there is often less clearance than an upstand is tall. Two to three hours, once the units are in.
What we are usually templating in is 1930s Metroland detached, chalet-style semi, Eastcote Village older stock and postwar infill. That mix is why two jobs on the same road can run completely differently.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered on our west London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

Getting stone into the room
A front drive is the best thing that can happen to a fitting day, because the tail lift comes down within a few metres of the door and nothing is on a clock. The templating visit needs somewhere to stop for two or three hours, which is a different problem from unloading for twenty minutes. Two hours is the realistic figure.

What gets asked for here
Honestly, this is not what we do most on this patch. Worktop design & quotation, worktop installation and worktop fabrication come up more often. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work, and nothing about how it is quoted, cut or fitted changes because of it.

True everywhere, stated once
A template records what the building actually did, not what the plan intended. How far those two things diverge is entirely a function of when the house was built.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop templating in Eastcote
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Eastcote?
Yes. Eastcote is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are HA5, HA4. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Hillingdon. A front drive is the best thing that can happen to a fitting day, because the tail lift comes down within a few metres of the door and nothing is on a clock. A templater circling for a space arrives late into a slot that was already tight, and the drawing is what suffers. It goes on the job sheet for the fitting crew. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Eastcote change how worktop templating works?
Everything on one level means no stairs, no landings and no turns, which is about the easiest carry there is in domestic work. Where the room has been knocked through to the dining room or opened into a later extension, the two floors rarely sit at the same level and the whole opening has to be shot across from one datum. Recorded as it is, not as it was drawn. Seating overhangs past 300mm need steel flat bar or a ply subframe, because the 20mm engineered stone people ask for will not cantilever on its own.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Eastcote?
Wide leafy roads with in-and-out drives. The Field End Road parade is the only pinch point and its bays are time-limited. A short hard approach with no steps means a full-length piece can be walked in flat by two people rather than turned up on edge. A template taken without walking the route produces a drawing that cuts beautifully and will not go in. It goes on the drawing with the run dimensions.
Is Eastcote really a worktop templating area?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop design & quotation, worktop installation and worktop fabrication. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. A new extension slab is not automatically level, and that wants checking before templating rather than after the stone is cut. Two to three hours on site, with the sink, tap and hob physically present. Units fitted, fixed and level first.
Why do two Eastcote kitchens the same size price differently?
An island is a single visible piece with four finished edges and no wall to hide against, so it is the piece the whole kitchen is judged on. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. Real angles, not plan angles. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
An intruding steel column, a brick pier or a downstand breaks a run that would otherwise have been one clean piece. One measurement never describes it, which is why a tape reading taken before the visit rarely matches the template. Measured at worktop height, nowhere else. All base units in, including anything standing on the later extension slab, walls skimmed to final thickness, and the sink, tap and hob delivered so cut-outs and tap centres are set from the actual items. Where someone is living in the house through the work, the strip-out and the fit are planned so the kitchen is out of use for a day and not a week. A template booked hopefully around another trade is the commonest cause of a wasted visit. Fitted, fixed and level, then we come.
