Emerson Park kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
These are the multi-piece jobs, where vein direction across a join matters as much as the join itself. Two kitchens of the same floor area price very differently for exactly these reasons, and the quote should show you which one you have. That is the whole of the pricing argument.
Very large detached houses on wide plots, a good proportion of them demolished and rebuilt, so kitchens are designed from scratch as double-height family spaces with two islands or an island plus a full prep pantry behind.
Slab-matched splashbacks, waterfall ends, integrated drainer grooves and matching utility and bar tops all come as one package here. These are multi-slab jobs where the veining has to run through island, splashback and pantry, so we dry-lay and mark the sequence in the workshop before a single cut. In-and-out gravel drives, gated entrances and plenty of standing room on the plot; the practical limits are gate head height and soft ground rather than parking.
Original joinery is deep and stands proud of the plaster, so the run is plotted to the units rather than to the wall behind them. Big islands are what drive the number. That is what the itemised lines are for.
The buildings themselves are mostly inter-war detached, post-war detached, modern rebuilt house and large plot self-build. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
True everywhere
Worktop design and quotation, in short
- Material is £110–£550/m² supply. That is the slab only.
- Templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted as their own lines.
- No installed price per square metre is published, because it is not a real number.
- Nothing is payable until we template.
Covered on our east London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The building, and what it does to the job
Paying for a second full slab to gain a couple of hundred millimetres on the island, and the steel needed under a breakfast overhang.

What gets asked for here
The research on this patch puts this at the top of the list, above worktop fabrication and worktop templating.

Getting stone into the room
Estate roads are often too tight for a long-wheelbase van to turn, so the carry starts a good deal further from the door than a map suggests. That is why the fitting line on a quote reflects manpower and time rather than square metres. It appears as its own line rather than buried in a rate.

True everywhere, stated once
Two kitchens with identical floor areas can price very differently, and the reason is almost always how the runs fall onto a slab and how the stone reaches the room.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop design & quotation in Emerson Park
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Emerson Park?
Yes. Emerson Park is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are RM11. It is worked on our east London run, along with the rest of Havering. A front drive is the best thing that can happen to a fitting day, because the tail lift comes down within a few metres of the door and nothing is on a clock. Where a bay suspension or a permit is needed, that is a real cost and it goes on the quote instead of appearing later. It is one line among the others, and it is honest. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Emerson Park change how worktop design & quotation works?
Original joinery is deep and stands proud of the plaster, so the run is plotted to the units rather than to the wall behind them. If the island top is a few hundred millimetres longer than the usable length of a slab, you buy a second slab to gain that overhang, the whole slab, not the part you use, and that is a material decision worth more than any other line on the quote. That is what the itemised lines are for. These are multi-slab jobs where the veining has to run through island, splashback and pantry, so we dry-lay and mark the sequence in the workshop before a single cut.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Emerson Park?
In-and-out gravel drives, gated entrances and plenty of standing room on the plot; the practical limits are gate head height and soft ground rather than parking. Estate roads are often too tight for a long-wheelbase van to turn, so the carry starts a good deal further from the door than a map suggests. That is why the fitting line on a quote reflects manpower and time rather than square metres. Nothing about it gets estimated after the fact.
Is Emerson Park mostly worktop design & quotation work for you?
Yes. On the research for this patch it is the first of the three jobs listed, ahead of worktop fabrication and worktop templating. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. That changes what the quote should be compared against, because the shape of the job is not the same as a single family kitchen. Material is the slab only, and it says so. Rear and side-return extensions are where the islands appear, and an island is the piece that decides whether one slab does the kitchen or two. Comparing quotes only works when they itemise the same things, and this is where the differences usually hide. Itemised, so it can be compared honestly.
Why do two Emerson Park kitchens the same size price differently?
Seating overhangs past roughly 300mm will not carry on the carcass alone, so flat steel bar or a plywood substrate has to be built into the units first. It is the shape rather than the square metreage that moves the number, which is why two kitchens the same size quote differently. Shape first, area second. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Window boards and cills stand proud of the plaster, so the back edge of the top has to be plotted to where the units actually sit rather than to the wall. It is fabrication time rather than material, so it appears on the fabrication line and not in the square metre figure. Priced as fabrication, not as area. Send the island size including the overhang and which side people sit at, the stool count, and confirm the edge profile you want and which edges are to receive it. Where someone is living in the house through the work, the strip-out and the fit are planned so the kitchen is out of use for a day and not a week. Material is quoted as a supply range and the labour lines separately, because an installed rate per square metre is not a real number. Written to be read by whoever is paying.
