Loading exemptions on red routes are narrow, time-limited and heavily camera-enforced, so we plan around them rather than relying on them. Floors are suspended timber over a shallow void and have moved, so the units are packed and levelled before anything is set on them. The template plots the bow along the back of the run, which is why a tape reading taken beforehand never matches. No stone is ever cut from a plan. The tenement stairs decide the piece sizes - anything over about 2m on edge will not make the turn, so joints get placed to suit the stairwell.

The tenement blocks are reached by external stairs and shared landings with a tight 180-degree turn and no lift; Walworth Road is a red route with heavy bus traffic, so loading has to happen on the residential side streets. A walk-up with winders at every half-landing means the piece is rested and re-gripped on the way, so the crew size goes up before the piece size comes down. Boxing is rarely the same depth at worktop height as it is at floor level, so measuring it low down is the usual reason a top will not sit back. The template plots it as it is, at the exact height the worktop will sit, and the drawing carries that through. That is why the visit takes two or three hours. Units fixed and packed level over the sloping floor, walls replastered and dry at their final thickness (tiling and splashbacks go on after the worktop, never before), and the sink, tap and hob physically on site, with a Belfast sink built in and set at its finished height. Mixed ownership means the decision-maker is not always the person who lets us in, so it is worth being clear early about who signs the quote off. A template booked hopefully around another trade is the commonest cause of a wasted visit. No stone is cut from a plan.
