Many have been extended at the rear since being sold, so the kitchen is half original and half newer with a floor junction between the two. Unit height is the other issue: legs sit on an uneven screed or hard concrete with no give, so the template reads the top of every carcass rather than assuming they share a height. Door widths, turn diagonals and any change of level are recorded on the drawing alongside the run dimensions. That is part of what the visit is for.

Galley runs are usually short enough to come out of a single slab, so the material band you choose does more to the total than the room shape does. The template records every angle in that shape as it actually is rather than as the plan drew it. Real angles, not plan angles. A junction between an original floor and a later extension slab is almost never at the same level, so units carrying a run across it need packing first.
