Hounslow West kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
These kitchens have usually been retiled twice and knocked through once, and both of those leave marks the worktop has to deal with. Taking the old tops off is also the first honest look at what has been going on underneath them. A single day, planned properly.
The A4 Bath Road makes delivery simple and driveways are common, but airport traffic on the Great South West Road and Piccadilly line works affect what time you can realistically arrive. Interwar semis with the original small kitchen extended at the rear. Larger households push for storage and length, so you get 4m back runs, a bank of tall units and the hob relocated onto an island.
The back door frequently opens straight into the kitchen, which is the best carry route in the house and the one people forget to mention. The kitchen is normally the original back room with a later side-return or rear extension bolted on, and that helps us: most pieces can go down the side alley and in through the back door in one length, so we can avoid joins that a front-door route would force. Units kept, surface changed, one day.
The mix here is Interwar semi, 1930s terrace and postwar infill. A quote that ignores which one you have is guessing.
True everywhere
Worktop replacement, in short
- The units stay. Only the surface changes.
- Old tops come out in the morning, new stone is down and sealed the same day.
- A plumber disconnects the tap and waste before we arrive and reconnects at the end of the day.
- The carcasses have to be sound: stone is far heavier than laminate.
Covered on our west London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The building, and what it does to the job
Extensions here are usually built right up to the boundary, so there is no side gate left and every slab comes through the front of the house.
1930s and inter-war semis
The shape of the run
If the island is a few hundred millimetres longer than the usable length of a slab, a second slab gets bought to gain that overhang, and the whole slab is paid for rather than the part used. Old laminate has often been holding a run square for years, and taking it off shows what the units were really doing. Height change is checked before we cut.

What gets asked for here
This is one of the three jobs that come up most here, behind worktop installation. It is the same template visit, the same workshop and the same installers either way.

Getting stone into a Hounslow West kitchen
The A4 Bath Road makes delivery simple and driveways are common, but airport traffic on the Great South West Road and Piccadilly line works affect what time you can realistically arrive.
Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop replacement in Hounslow West
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Hounslow West?
Yes. Hounslow West is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are TW4, TW3. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Hounslow. Gravel and block paving both look like hard standing and neither takes a loaded trolley, so the run from tail lift to door gets boarded. We stage the strip-out so the old tops leave in one trip rather than trickling out across the afternoon. It is a full day at the kerb, not a delivery. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Hounslow West change how worktop replacement works?
The back door frequently opens straight into the kitchen, which is the best carry route in the house and the one people forget to mention. What catches people out is the junction between the old floor and the extension floor, which is rarely at the same level, so a run carrying across it needs the units packed before stone goes on. What is under the old top is the real question. Extensions here are usually built right up to the boundary, so there is no side gate left and every slab comes through the front of the house.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Hounslow West?
The A4 Bath Road makes delivery simple and driveways are common, but airport traffic on the Great South West Road and Piccadilly line works affect what time you can realistically arrive. Where the van stands level with the front of the house a piece gets handled twice instead of five times, and stone breaks on handling rather than on the road. We plan the strip-out and the carry as one movement so the kitchen is only out of use for a single day. It sets what the day actually looks like.
Do you do much worktop replacement around Hounslow West?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop installation. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. Old tops out in the morning, new stone down and sealed the same afternoon. A plumber either side of us. Rear and side-return extensions are where the islands appear, and an island is the piece that decides whether one slab does the kitchen or two. The units stay and only the surface changes, so the whole job is one day rather than a kitchen refit. A day, not a project.
Why do two Hounslow West kitchens the same size price differently?
If the island is a few hundred millimetres longer than the usable length of a slab, a second slab gets bought to gain that overhang, and the whole slab is paid for rather than the part used. Going from a 38mm laminate to 20mm or 30mm stone drops the surface, which shows against tiles, a window board and any freestanding appliance. Carcasses have to be sound first. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Where a breast interrupts a long wall the join can often go there, so it reads as a natural break rather than a line in the middle of a worktop. We would rather find it at template than on the morning, which is why the templater looks behind the units. Found at template, not on fit day. Unlock the side gate and clear the alley of bins, bikes and pots, and arrange a plumber for the sink and an electrician if the hob is hard-wired. Where someone is living in the house through the work, the strip-out and the fit are planned so the kitchen is out of use for a day and not a week. A plumber disconnects before we arrive and reconnects after we leave, and that is worth booking early. Units kept, surface changed.
