Some zones are controlled for a short window in the middle of the day and open either side of it, which makes the timing of the visit the whole question. Wall-hung means the wall carries the basin, so the wall gets checked.

The template produces a drawing, and the workshop cuts to that drawing once you agree it. The same firm templates and fits. Nobody else is brought in to install. A template on a normal kitchen takes two to three hours in the room. Gas, waste and later wiring were boxed in against the wall long after the house was built, and that boxing is what the run has to clear. A vanity top is where all of that turns up in miniature, with the basin, the tap holes and a splash return crowded into a few hundred millimetres of stone. The tap decides the drilling, so the tap is settled first.

The workmanship guarantee is the same either way. It does not extend to a material we did not supply. Order is what matters: a slab is templated before it is cut, so an uncut slab is straightforward and one already machined for another kitchen is not. Remnants bought elsewhere are the awkward case, because the drawing is then made to fit the stone. Kitchens go in near the end of a conversion, behind the plastering and the flooring, by which point the programme has already absorbed whatever slipped earlier. A house divided into flats needs a vanity for each of them, and small repeated pieces are the one case where buying a whole slab makes sense. Loft rooms bring an en-suite and a very tight flight.
