Yeading kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
The carry is the constraint: a single stair with tight half-landings, or deck access with a long walk from the lift. Old top out in the morning, new stone down and sealed the same afternoon, with a plumber either side of us. Sound carcasses are the one condition.
Estate housing with small square kitchens on a two-wall layout, and the boiler and meter cupboards eating into what looks on paper like a usable run.
Estate cul-de-sacs with parking courts, bollarded footpaths and very little turning space, and some blocks are walk-up only. Meter and boiler cupboards break the run into 1.2m and 900mm pieces, so there are far more joints than the square metre figure suggests.
Rear access through a garden or a shared path means long pieces can usually come in whole from the back. Ex-council flats and maisonettes are built in dense concrete and blockwork, so anything that has to be fixed back, such as brackets under a peninsula or support for an end panel, goes in with proper anchors and an SDS rather than plasterboard fixings. Units kept, surface changed, one day.
The mix here is Postwar estate house, 1960s maisonette and 1970s low-rise block. A quote that ignores which one you have is guessing.
True everywhere
Worktop replacement, in short
- The units stay. Only the surface changes.
- Old tops come out in the morning, new stone is down and sealed the same day.
- A plumber disconnects the tap and waste before we arrive and reconnects at the end of the day.
- The carcasses have to be sound: stone is far heavier than laminate.
Covered on our west London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The building, and what it does to the job
Boxed-in soil stacks and service risers in the corner of the run, which eat into the worktop depth and have to be scribed around rather than cut square.

Getting stone into the room
Stone goes up on edge, and it is the half-landing turn rather than the flight itself that sets the maximum piece. Worth remembering that the old tops have to come out the way the new ones come in, and a laminate run is easier to remove in one length than to carry in one. That is agreed before a plumber is booked.

What gets asked for here
The research on this patch puts this at the top of the list, above worktop installation and worktop fabrication.

True everywhere, stated once
Replacement is the most-searched worktop job in the UK and the one most shaped by the building it happens in. What the old top is hiding, and how the new stone gets through the door, is different in every kind of house.

Getting stone into a Yeading kitchen

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop replacement in Yeading
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Yeading?
Yes. Yeading is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are UB4. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Hillingdon. On a street with no restrictions the constraint is other residents rather than a warden, so it is worth putting a cone or a car out early. Waste is the part people forget: the old laminate or tired granite has to be walked back to the van and it does not get lighter. The waste run is planned, not improvised. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Yeading change how worktop replacement works?
Rear access through a garden or a shared path means long pieces can usually come in whole from the back. Ex-council flats and maisonettes are built in dense concrete and blockwork, so anything that has to be fixed back, such as brackets under a peninsula or support for an end panel, goes in with proper anchors and an SDS rather than plasterboard fixings. Sound carcasses are the one condition. Meter and boiler cupboards break the run into 1.2m and 900mm pieces, so there are far more joints than the square metre figure suggests.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Yeading?
Estate cul-de-sacs with parking courts, bollarded footpaths and very little turning space, and some blocks are walk-up only. Stone goes up on edge, and it is the half-landing turn rather than the flight itself that sets the maximum piece. With no room to turn, the old top gets cut up in the kitchen instead, which is dusty work and needs the room emptied first. It sets what the day actually looks like.
Is Yeading mostly worktop replacement work for you?
Yes. On the research for this patch it is the first of the three jobs listed, ahead of worktop installation and worktop fabrication. Landlord work is scheduled around void periods, so the whole thing is a fixed window and the template date matters as much as the fitting date. The units stay and only the surface changes, so the whole job is one day rather than a kitchen refit. A plumber either side of us. A worktop replacement between tenancies is a single-day job by design, because the flat is not earning while it is empty. Old tops out in the morning, new stone down and sealed the same afternoon. A day, not a project.
Why do two Yeading kitchens the same size price differently?
Two runs meeting at an internal corner is the most common shape we fit, and the corner is where the decisions are. Going from a 38mm laminate to 20mm or 30mm stone drops the surface, which shows against tiles, a window board and any freestanding appliance. Carcasses have to be sound first. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Boxing is rarely the same depth at worktop height as it is at floor level, so measuring it low down is the usual reason a top will not sit back. We would rather find it at template than on the morning, which is why the templater looks behind the units. Found at template, not on fit day. Sort a parking bay or permit near the entrance, confirm the lift is in service and get us the door codes, and tell us about any asbestos survey on the flat before we start stripping out. These kitchens tend to be compact and reasonably square, so the fixed template, fabrication and fitting lines are a larger share of the total than the stone is. If the carcasses are tired the honest answer is that stone will find that out, and it is better said before than after. Units kept, surface changed.
