Cranham kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Small, roughly square kitchens with a back door and a window in the middle of the run: short lengths, few joins, and a lot to work around. What that does to a quote is move the number away from square metreage and towards slab yield, join count and time on site. You can compare it against anything.
The common job is a full refit within the existing shape, new units, a U-run with a peninsula, and quartz that has to work with an existing tiled floor the client is keeping. Later suburban stock on the eastern edge, mostly detached houses and bungalows built from the 1950s onwards, so kitchens are already reasonably sized square rooms and rarely need structural work. Very easy: wide estate roads, individual drives, garages, turning space and no parking restrictions to speak of. Existing floors are usually staying here, so we protect them properly and check base-unit heights against the finished floor rather than the slab.
The window sits in the middle of the run over the sink, and its board and cill set the limit on how tall an upstand can be. With little square metreage to spread them over, the cut-outs and the fixed template, fabrication and fitting lines carry the quote, so each one is listed separately rather than buried in a rate. That is what the itemised lines are for.
The buildings themselves are mostly 1950s-1970s detached, post-war semi, bungalow and 1980s estate house. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
True everywhere
Worktop design and quotation, in short
- Material is £110–£550/m² supply. That is the slab only.
- Templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted as their own lines.
- No installed price per square metre is published, because it is not a real number.
- Nothing is payable until we template.
Covered on our east London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.
period detached houses and villas
The building, and what it does to the job
A peninsula or breakfast bar landing on a lightweight stud partition, that needs proper support underneath before stone goes on it.

The shape of the run
Three runs means two internal corners, and each corner is a decision about mitre or butt joint before anything is nested. Each run is priced on its own line against the supply rate, with the join count and the reason for each join stated. Shape first, area second.

What gets asked for here
Second or third on the list around here, after worktop installation. Same visit, same bench, same crew, same lead time.
Access
Getting stone into a Cranham kitchen
Very easy: wide estate roads, individual drives, garages, turning space and no parking restrictions to speak of.
Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.
3–7 working days
From template to fitted, working days from template. The same on this patch as every other.
east London patch
Cranham is covered on our east London run, along with the rest of Havering.
We come to you
Templated in your kitchen, cut in our workshop, fitted by our own installers.
Access told straight
If the route forces an extra join, you hear that at quote stage, not on the day.
Questions
Worktop design & quotation in Cranham
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you actually work in Cranham, or just list it?
Yes. Cranham is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are RM14. It is worked on our east London run, along with the rest of Havering. Off-street parking means the van stays put all day, so tools, packers and the offcut we would rather have than not are all within reach. Tell us at enquiry stage and it is priced properly, because a crew stood waiting is the most expensive thing on any job. You are told before you commit to a date. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
What is different about worktop design & quotation in Cranham?
Base units from the seventies and eighties are often only 500mm deep, so a 600mm stone top overhangs at the front and the doors want checking against it. With little square metreage to spread them over, the cut-outs and the fixed template, fabrication and fitting lines carry the quote, so each one is listed separately rather than buried in a rate. Priced from the building, not from a rate card. Existing floors are usually staying here, so we protect them properly and check base-unit heights against the finished floor rather than the slab.
Is access a problem in Cranham?
Very easy: wide estate roads, individual drives, garages, turning space and no parking restrictions to speak of. A short hard approach with no steps means a full-length piece can be walked in flat by two people rather than turned up on edge. That is why the fitting line on a quote reflects manpower and time rather than square metres. You see that figure before we template, not after.
Do you do much worktop design & quotation around Cranham?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop installation. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. The junction between the original room and the extension is the point to watch, because the two floors rarely sit at the same height. Comparing quotes only works when they itemise the same things, and this is where the differences usually hide. Material is the slab only, and it says so. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. Everything is itemised: material, template, fabrication, fitting, each cut-out and each metre of upstand. Itemised, so it can be compared honestly.
What decides the price of a worktop in Cranham?
Three runs means two internal corners, and each corner is a decision about mitre or butt joint before anything is nested. It is the shape rather than the square metreage that moves the number, which is why two kitchens the same size quote differently. Shape first, area second. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What do I need to sort out first?
Legs bottoming out on hard concrete or an uneven screed mean the tops of the carcasses are not one plane, and that is picked up at template rather than on fitting day. Send photographs of every corner of the room and it gets priced properly first time. Priced as fabrication, not as area. Tell us whether there is side or rear access to the kitchen from outside, and send the run lengths with a photo of the window and boiler positions. The householder is normally on site at template, and that is the right time to settle sink position, tap centres and overhang rather than agree them by email. Nothing is payable until we template, so a quote can sit while consents and decisions catch up. Written to be read by whoever is paying.
