Worktop installation in Golders Green
Fitting day: protected route, back edges scribed to the real wall line, joins pulled flush, sink and hob sealed.
Golders Green kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
This is a logistics job before it is a stone job, and the lift car is usually the single biggest constraint on the design. The fitting day is planned backwards from all of it, before the first piece comes off the van. One visit, our own installers.
Two clear kitchen types: 1930s mansion flats with fixed compact kitchens against a services wall, and family houses where a full kosher kitchen is the standard brief with two sinks, two dishwashers, separate meat and dairy runs, often two ovens and space for a Shabbat hot plate. That doubles the number of cut-outs and usually means two matched worktop runs rather than one.
Kosher layouts must be agreed before templating because the meat and dairy split changes sink positions, drainer grooves and joint locations across the whole kitchen.
These kitchens are full of boxed soil stacks, gas risers and heating pipework, and the boxing usually stops short of the ceiling. This is the most managed day we do. That is the shape of the day.
The buildings themselves are mostly 1930s mansion block, Edwardian and 1920s semi and large detached off the main roads. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
True everywhere
Worktop installation, in short
- One visit. A straightforward run is a morning; an island and splashbacks take most of the day.
- Every piece is carried in by hand, and stone does not bend.
- We seat and seal the sink and hob. We do not connect water, waste, gas or electrics.
- Floors and units are protected before anything comes through the door.
Covered on our north London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.
mansion blocks and purpose-built flats
The building, and what it does to the job
The block's permitted works hours and the booked goods lift slot, which set a hard stop on the day whatever stage we are at.

What gets asked for here
It is on the shortlist for this patch rather than at the top of it, because worktop design & quotation comes up more often. Nothing about the process differs between the two.
mansion blocks and purpose-built flats
Getting stone into the room
Mansion blocks with small original lifts, stone stairs and porters, plus permit parking that is full by mid-morning along the main roads. Houses off the side streets have driveways, but the mansion flats are the defining access problem.
A car that takes 2.4m on the diagonal will not take a three-metre worktop however it is stood, and there is no trimming it on the landing. We walk the route with a tape and protect it end to end before the first piece is lifted. That is what the morning is planned around.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop installation in Golders Green
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Golders Green?
Yes. Golders Green is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are NW11. It is worked on our north London run, along with the rest of Barnet. Permit hours are what matters, not the permit itself, because a bay that frees up at six in the evening is no use for a template at ten. The fitting slot is set around it, which is why we ask about it when the date is booked and not before we leave the yard. It is why the arrival time is what it is. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Golders Green change how worktop installation works?
These kitchens are full of boxed soil stacks, gas risers and heating pipework, and the boxing usually stops short of the ceiling. The porter has to be booked, the goods lift protected with the block's own blankets or our own boards, and communal carpet and stair runners covered from the entrance to the flat door before a single piece moves. That is the shape of the day. Kosher layouts must be agreed before templating because the meat and dairy split changes sink positions, drainer grooves and joint locations across the whole kitchen.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Golders Green?
Mansion blocks with small original lifts, stone stairs and porters, plus permit parking that is full by mid-morning along the main roads. Houses off the side streets have driveways, but the mansion flats are the defining access problem. A car that takes 2.4m on the diagonal will not take a three-metre worktop however it is stood, and there is no trimming it on the landing. We walk the route with a tape and protect it end to end before the first piece is lifted. It gets checked before the first piece is lifted.
Do you do much worktop installation around Golders Green?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop design & quotation. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. Where the window is fixed there is no second day to fall back on, so the prep list matters more than usual. One visit, done properly. Landlord work is scheduled around void periods, so the whole thing is a fixed window and the template date matters as much as the fitting date. One visit, with the sink and hob seated and sealed before we leave. Sealed before we leave.
Why do two Golders Green kitchens the same size price differently?
A galley puts the sink on one side and the hob on the other, which spreads the cut-outs across two pieces instead of weakening one. A layout that has been packed and levelled run by run instead of to one datum shows as a step where two pieces meet. Nothing is bonded until the whole run sits flat. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
A notch around a boxed stack is machined with a radius at the internal corner, because a square inside corner there is exactly where a top will crack. On the day it means dry-laying, marking, and cutting the scribe on site before anything is bonded. Dry-lay, mark, cut, then bond. Have the works booking confirmed with the managing agent or porter in advance, with the lift slot and any parking permit or bay suspension in place. Where someone is living in the house through the work, the strip-out and the fit are planned so the kitchen is out of use for a day and not a week. The fitting day is arranged with whoever can actually give us access for the whole slot. One visit, our own installers.
