Northolt kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
The carry is the constraint: a single stair with tight half-landings, or deck access with a long walk from the lift. Almost everything that makes a fitting day hard is a property of the building rather than of the stone. The route is walked before the first lift.
Postwar estate housing and maisonettes with small square kitchens, two-wall layouts and a storage cupboard eating the corner. Mostly replacement tops onto sound existing units.
Estate roads with parking courts, bollards and narrow service alleys behind the terraces. The cupboard-in-the-corner layout leaves a short return under 700mm that still needs its own template and its own polished end, so it is never quite as quick as it looks.
Deck access means a long open walkway from the lift or the stair to the front door, and that walk happens with the piece on edge in whatever weather there is. The stairwell half-landing is usually the tightest point on the whole route and it dictates the maximum piece. That is the shape of the day.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to Postwar estate house, 1930s semi, 1960s maisonette and Northolt Village older stock. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
True everywhere
Worktop installation, in short
- One visit. A straightforward run is a morning; an island and splashbacks take most of the day.
- Every piece is carried in by hand, and stone does not bend.
- We seat and seal the sink and hob. We do not connect water, waste, gas or electrics.
- Floors and units are protected before anything comes through the door.
Covered on our west London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The building, and what it does to the job
The stairwell half-landing turn, which is usually the tightest point on the whole route and dictates the maximum piece length.

The shape of the run
Two runs meeting at an internal corner is the most common shape we fit, and the corner is where the decisions are. On the day that means dry-laying the whole layout first and only then pulling and bonding the joins. The join is the last thing finished.

What gets asked for here
It is on the shortlist for this patch rather than at the top of it, because worktop replacement comes up more often. Nothing about the process differs between the two.

Installation is the day the templating either pays off or does not. Almost everything that makes it hard is a property of the building rather than the stone.

Getting stone into a Northolt kitchen
Estate roads with parking courts, bollards and narrow service alleys behind the terraces. The approach is off the A312 at the Target roundabout or down from the A40.
Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.
3–7 working days
From template to fitted, working days from template. The same on this patch as every other.

Questions
Worktop installation in Northolt
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Northolt?
Yes. Northolt is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are UB5. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Ealing. On a street with no restrictions the constraint is other residents rather than a warden, so it is worth putting a cone or a car out early. A van that has to move mid-fit costs the best part of an hour and takes a man off the tools to do it. The day is built around that window. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Northolt change how worktop installation works?
Deck access means a long open walkway from the lift or the stair to the front door, and that walk happens with the piece on edge in whatever weather there is. The stairwell half-landing is usually the tightest point on the whole route and it dictates the maximum piece. That is the shape of the day. The cupboard-in-the-corner layout leaves a short return under 700mm that still needs its own template and its own polished end, so it is never quite as quick as it looks.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Northolt?
Estate roads with parking courts, bollards and narrow service alleys behind the terraces. The approach is off the A312 at the Target roundabout or down from the A40. Sign-in at the gate, a permit on the dash and a named contact are usually wanted before anything comes off the van. The fitting day is planned backwards from that point, before anything comes off the van. It gets checked before the first piece is lifted.
Do you do much worktop installation around Northolt?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop replacement. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. Where the window is fixed there is no second day to fall back on, so the prep list matters more than usual. Sealed before we leave. Quartz suits let property well: no sealing, no annual maintenance, and nothing an incoming tenant has to be told to look after. One visit, with the sink and hob seated and sealed before we leave. One visit, done properly.
Why do two Northolt kitchens the same size price differently?
Two runs meeting at an internal corner is the most common shape we fit, and the corner is where the decisions are. A layout that has been packed and levelled run by run instead of to one datum shows as a step where two pieces meet. Dry-lay first, always. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Boxing is rarely the same depth at worktop height as it is at floor level, so measuring it low down is the usual reason a top will not sit back. On the day it means dry-laying, marking, and cutting the scribe on site before anything is bonded. Eased in, never forced. Reserve a space as close to the block entrance as possible and clear the landing and stairs of prams, bikes and stored items. Where a landlord or housing provider is involved there is a specification to meet and a process to follow, and both are settled before a date is offered. A half-day of access is not a fitting day, and it is better to say so at booking than to find out at eleven. Protection goes down first.
