Worktop design and quotation in Thamesmead
Priced from your plans or the kitchen as it stands, with every cut-out, edge and join on its own line.
Thamesmead kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Dense concrete and blockwork mean the wall cannot be chased back or packed out, so the stone carries the scribe. Every run, cut-out, edge and join is priced on its own line, so the effect of the building is visible rather than absorbed. Itemised, and nothing payable until we template.
The original estate housing has small planned kitchens with concrete or dense blockwork walls and standard 600mm units in a single or double run; the later brick-built housing association terraces are slightly more generous but still galley. Islands are rare because the rooms were never sized for them.
Fixing into precast concrete needs the right anchors and serious dust control — nothing here takes a plasterboard fixing.
Many have been extended at the rear since being sold, so the kitchen is half original and half newer with a floor junction between the two. Templating, fabrication and fitting are the same day's work whether the kitchen is five square metres or eight, so on a small kitchen they are a larger share of the total, and one slab covers the lot, which makes the material band the main lever you actually control. You see it before you commit to anything.
On these streets the housing is 1960s-70s system-built concrete estate, deck-access maisonette, 1980s housing association terrace and 2010s regeneration block. Each of those behaves differently once the old top comes off.
True everywhere
Worktop design and quotation, in short
- Material is £110–£550/m² supply. That is the slab only.
- Templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted as their own lines.
- No installed price per square metre is published, because it is not a real number.
- Nothing is payable until we template.
Covered from the New Malden patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

Getting stone into the room
Raised pedestrian decks, podium levels and garage undercrofts mean the front door is often nowhere near where the van can park, and some blocks are reached only by a walkway or a small lift.
Gravel and block paving both look like hard standing and neither takes a loaded trolley, so the run from tail lift to door gets boarded. Tell us at enquiry stage and it is priced properly, because a crew stood waiting is the most expensive thing on any job. You are told before you commit to a date.

What gets asked for here
Honestly, this is not what we do most on this patch. Worktop replacement, worktop templating and worktop splashbacks & upstands come up more often. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work, and nothing about how it is quoted, cut or fitted changes because of it.

Getting stone into a Thamesmead kitchen
Raised pedestrian decks, podium levels and garage undercrofts mean the front door is often nowhere near where the van can park, and some blocks are reached only by a walkway or a small lift.
Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Worktop design & quotation in Thamesmead
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Is Thamesmead on your patch?
Yes. Thamesmead is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are SE28, SE2. It is run from the New Malden side, covering South West London & Surrey. Gravel and block paving both look like hard standing and neither takes a loaded trolley, so the run from tail lift to door gets boarded. It sits in the fitting line as time on site rather than as anything to do with the stone. Nothing here is added after the fact. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Why would worktop design & quotation in Thamesmead be any different from anywhere else?
Walls are dense block or in-situ concrete with a bonded plaster, so the bottom course of tiles brings plaster with it when the old top comes off. Templating, fabrication and fitting are the same day's work whether the kitchen is five square metres or eight, so on a small kitchen they are a larger share of the total, and one slab covers the lot, which makes the material band the main lever you actually control. That is what the itemised lines are for. Fixing into precast concrete needs the right anchors and serious dust control — nothing here takes a plasterboard fixing.
How would you get a worktop into a property in Thamesmead?
Raised pedestrian decks, podium levels and garage undercrofts mean the front door is often nowhere near where the van can park, and some blocks are reached only by a walkway or a small lift. The lift has to be booked and blanketed before anything moves, and that booking needs to cover the old tops coming out as well as the new stone going in. We price the carry from what you tell us about the route, so photographs of the approach are worth more to us than a floor plan. It appears as its own line rather than buried in a rate. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Is Thamesmead really a worktop design & quotation area?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop replacement, worktop templating and worktop splashbacks & upstands. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. Everything is itemised: material, template, fabrication, fitting, each cut-out and each metre of upstand. Nothing payable until we template. What moves the number on a quote around here?
If the island is a few hundred millimetres longer than the usable length of a slab, a second slab gets bought to gain that overhang, and the whole slab is paid for rather than the part used. Slab yield is worked out at quote stage, so if the layout forces a second slab you hear it before you commit rather than after. The join count is stated with its reason. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What needs to be ready before you come to Thamesmead?
Dot-and-dab plasterboard sounds solid and is hollow behind, so anything fixed through it has to hit a dab or a batten rather than a void. This is the item most often left out of a cheaper quote, and it comes back as a variation once the templater has been. Better on the quote than in a variation. Send the run lengths plus a photo of every corner of the kitchen so we can spot boxed ducts, and tell us whether the sink is staying in the same position. These kitchens tend to be compact and reasonably square, so the fixed template, fabrication and fitting lines are a larger share of the total than the stone is. Nothing is payable until we template, so a quote can sit while consents and decisions catch up. Written to be read by whoever is paying.
