Worktop templating in Alibon
A digital template plotting the room as it really is, taken once your units are fitted, fixed and level.
Alibon kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Kitchens in this stock are compact and reasonably square, which makes the fixed lines a larger share of the total than the material is. Two to three hours on site with a laser, once the units are fitted, fixed and level. The room as it is, to the millimetre.
In the houses, the pattern is the usual scullery-plus-larder conversion into a single L, often with the back door repositioned during the works. Eastern Becontree housing towards Dagenham, similar house types but with more maisonettes and low-rise flats mixed in, so a share of the work is first-floor kitchens with a fixed narrow footprint.
These are built in dense concrete, so support for a peninsula or an end panel goes in with proper anchors rather than plugs. Concrete and dense block walls in ex-council stock cannot be chased back or packed out to suit, so the template takes the wall exactly as it is and the stone carries the scribe. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
The mix here is 1930s LCC cottage estate house, ex-council semi and post-war maisonette. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered from the Essex patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

Getting stone into the room
Estate roads with easy parking, but maisonette blocks mean an external stair or shared entrance and a first-floor carry with a turn at the top.
A walk-up with winders at every half-landing means the piece is rested and re-gripped on the way, so the crew size goes up before the piece size comes down. Door widths, turn diagonals and any change of level are recorded on the drawing alongside the run dimensions. That is part of what the visit is for.

The building, and what it does to the job
Maisonette stairs here are external and often steep, so we cut to a length two people can carry safely up them rather than the longest possible piece.

What gets asked for here
This is one of the three jobs that come up most here, behind worktop replacement. It is the same template visit, the same workshop and the same installers either way.

Questions
Worktop templating in Alibon
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Is Alibon on your patch?
Yes. Alibon is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are RM10. It is run from the Essex side, covering Essex & East London. A free-parking street with cars both sides can still leave the van forty metres away, and that distance is carry, not driving. It is noted on the job sheet at template so the fitting crew inherit the answer rather than rediscovering it. It goes on the job sheet for the fitting crew. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Why would worktop templating in Alibon be any different from anywhere else?
Deck access means a long open walkway from the lift or the stair to the front door, and that walk happens with the piece on edge in whatever weather there is. Carcass heights are read individually, since legs bottoming out on concrete mean the units do not share one plane. Two to three hours, once the units are in. Maisonette stairs here are external and often steep, so we cut to a length two people can carry safely up them rather than the longest possible piece.
How would you get a worktop into a property in Alibon?
Estate roads with easy parking, but maisonette blocks mean an external stair or shared entrance and a first-floor carry with a turn at the top. A walk-up with winders at every half-landing means the piece is rested and re-gripped on the way, so the crew size goes up before the piece size comes down. The templater measures that route on the same visit, so the drawing leaves site already knowing the maximum piece. It goes on the drawing with the run dimensions. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Do you do much worktop templating around Alibon?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop replacement. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Quartz suits let property well: no sealing, no annual maintenance, and nothing an incoming tenant has to be told to look after. No stone is ever cut from a plan, which is inconvenient exactly when a programme is tight. The room as it is, not as it was drawn. Landlord work is scheduled around void periods, so the whole thing is a fixed window and the template date matters as much as the fitting date. The template visit is booked once the units are genuinely in, not when they are nearly in. Units fitted, fixed and level first.
What moves the number on a quote around here?
Where the return runs into a wall that is out of square, the corner is templated as the angle it really is rather than as ninety degrees. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. The drawing leaves site complete. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What needs to be ready before you come to Alibon?
Boxing is rarely the same depth at worktop height as it is at floor level, so measuring it low down is the usual reason a top will not sit back. It is recorded on the drawing with the run dimensions so the workshop is not guessing. Measured at worktop height, nowhere else. Every base unit fixed to the wall, packed and levelled with the laser, and any dry-lining or patching completed - the template reads the wall face it is given, so that has to be the finished face. Managed stock usually comes with its own rules about working hours, waste, and who is allowed on site. The template happens when the units are in, fixed and level, whoever is fitting them. No stone is cut from a plan.
