Park Langley kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
These are the multi-piece jobs, where vein direction across a join matters as much as the join itself. The template records what the building actually did, not what the plan intended, and the gap between those two is what this visit is for. Sink, tap and hob on site, not on order.
Large early-twentieth-century houses built as a garden suburb, with big rear kitchens that were originally servant space, so there is often a scullery, larder and back stair to absorb into one room. Finished kitchens run to a 3m island plus a separate utility and frequently a second prep sink.
These houses have solid brick internal walls rather than stud, so wall-hung breakfast bars and long unsupported overhangs can actually be fixed properly here instead of needing steel brackets everywhere.
These houses usually sit in their own grounds with a long approach, so the carry from van to door is longer than anything inside the building. The island is templated for its overhang, its support and the position of the hob or sink within it, with sockets and any pop-up left where they will genuinely be. Recorded as it is, not as it was drawn.
The buildings themselves are mostly Edwardian garden-suburb detached, 1920s arts and crafts house, 1930s detached and post-war infill. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered on our south east London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.
period detached houses and villas
Getting stone into the room
Wide verged roads with in-and-out drives and plenty of room to unload, but the houses sit well back behind long front paths and several have covenants on frontage alterations.

The shape of the run
Seating overhangs past roughly 300mm will not carry on the carcass alone, so flat steel bar or a plywood substrate has to be built into the units first. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. The drawing leaves site complete.

What gets asked for here
The research on this patch does not put this among the three commonest jobs. Worktop design & quotation, worktop fabrication and worktop installation do. That changes how often we are here, not how the work is done.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop templating in Park Langley
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you actually work in Park Langley, or just list it?
Yes. Park Langley is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are BR3. It is worked on our south east London run, along with the rest of Bromley. A drive that shelves towards the house needs the van chocked and the trolley controlled, since a loaded A-frame gathers speed quickly on a slope. A templater circling for a space arrives late into a slot that was already tight, and the drawing is what suffers. The templater needs a proper stop, not a pause. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
What is different about worktop templating in Park Langley?
Original joinery is deep and stands proud of the plaster, so the run is plotted to the units rather than to the wall behind them. One datum for the whole room, because a floor that falls end to end shows as a step between island and perimeter. Two to three hours, once the units are in. These houses have solid brick internal walls rather than stud, so wall-hung breakfast bars and long unsupported overhangs can actually be fixed properly here instead of needing steel brackets everywhere.
Is access a problem in Park Langley?
Wide verged roads with in-and-out drives and plenty of room to unload, but the houses sit well back behind long front paths and several have covenants on frontage alterations. Communal stairs get boarded and the handrail padded, and we walk the route with a tape before the first piece leaves the van. The templater measures that route on the same visit, so the drawing leaves site already knowing the maximum piece. The template records it along with everything else.
Do you get much worktop templating work in Park Langley?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop design & quotation, worktop fabrication and worktop installation. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. The junction between the original room and the extension is the point to watch, because the two floors rarely sit at the same height. The template visit is booked once the units are genuinely in, not when they are nearly in. The room as it is, not as it was drawn.
What decides the price of a worktop in Park Langley?
Seating overhangs past roughly 300mm will not carry on the carcass alone, so flat steel bar or a plywood substrate has to be built into the units first. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. The drawing leaves site complete. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What do I need to sort out first?
A deep scribe comes out of the nest, so how far the stone has to be relieved changes which part of the slab the piece is cut from. It is recorded on the drawing with the run dimensions so the workshop is not guessing. Measured at worktop height, nowhere else. All runs and the island carcass fixed down and levelled to one datum, with the sink, tap and hob on site - an island cannot be templated while it is still loose or sitting on packers. An owner living in the house makes the decisions and lives with them, so the specification tends to go towards the material rather than towards the lowest total. The templater needs the sink, tap and hob on site, and a Belfast sink installed at its final height. No stone is cut from a plan.
