Perivale kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Exposed brick and steel is the whole job here, because neither of them presents a flat plane to scribe to. The template records what the building actually did, not what the plan intended, and the gap between those two is what this visit is for. Units fitted, fixed and level first.
1930s semis with rear kitchens and side additions, plus apartments in the converted Deco factory buildings where the kitchen is a straight run with a peninsula in an open-plan space.
The Deco conversions have deep window reveals and non-standard ceiling heights, so set the splashback height off the actual reveal rather than the architect's drawing. Western Avenue runs straight through with limited turnings, so overshooting means a long loop.
Poured screed over steel decking can fall away across a long run, so level is checked across the whole room before anything is packed. Where a column, downstand or steel plate lands in the run, the template plots its actual outline so the stone is cut to fit around it instead of being stopped short and filled. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
On these streets the housing is 1930s semi, Art Deco industrial conversion, interwar terrace and postwar infill. Each of those behaves differently once the old top comes off.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered on our west London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

What gets asked for here
The research on this patch does not put this among the three commonest jobs. Worktop installation, worktop replacement and worktop splashbacks & upstands do. That changes how often we are here, not how the work is done.

Getting stone into the room
Residential streets have drives, but the converted-factory apartments need lift booking and residents' permits.
A controlled parking zone means either a visitor permit sorted in advance or a suspended bay, and a suspension is applied for days ahead rather than on the morning. The templating visit needs somewhere to stop for two or three hours, which is a different problem from unloading for twenty minutes. The templater needs a proper stop, not a pause.
1930s and inter-war semis
The building, and what it does to the job
The brick face itself - proud perpends and a course that runs out mean the scribe changes along a single run, and no one measurement describes it.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop templating in Perivale
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Perivale?
Yes. Perivale is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are UB6. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Ealing. A controlled parking zone means either a visitor permit sorted in advance or a suspended bay, and a suspension is applied for days ahead rather than on the morning. A templater circling for a space arrives late into a slot that was already tight, and the drawing is what suffers. It goes on the job sheet for the fitting crew. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Perivale change how worktop templating works?
Poured screed over steel decking can fall away across a long run, so level is checked across the whole room before anything is packed. The scribe is taken at the exact height the stone will sit, because the brick face changes over its own height. Recorded as it is, not as it was drawn. The Deco conversions have deep window reveals and non-standard ceiling heights, so set the splashback height off the actual reveal rather than the architect's drawing.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Perivale?
Western Avenue runs straight through with limited turnings, so overshooting means a long loop. Residential streets have drives, but the converted-factory apartments need lift booking and residents' permits. A car that takes 2.4m on the diagonal will not take a three-metre worktop however it is stood, and there is no trimming it on the landing. The templater measures that route on the same visit, so the drawing leaves site already knowing the maximum piece. The template records it along with everything else.
Is Perivale really a worktop templating area?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop installation, worktop replacement and worktop splashbacks & upstands. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. The junction between the original room and the extension is the point to watch, because the two floors rarely sit at the same height. No stone is ever cut from a plan, which is inconvenient exactly when a programme is tight. The room as it is, not as it was drawn.
Why do two Perivale kitchens the same size price differently?
Peninsulas frequently land on a lightweight partition or on units that were never fixed down, and stone needs proper support under it before it goes on. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. The drawing leaves site complete. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
A low sill over the sink run is what decides between an upstand and stone dying into a window board, and there is often less clearance than an upstand is tall. The template plots it as it is, at the exact height the worktop will sit, and the drawing carries that through. Plotted, not estimated. Units fixed and levelled, all steelwork and brick cleaned, sealed and finished, and any boarded sections completed to final thickness so the template picks up the surface the stone will actually meet. Where the owner is not local, the decisions happen remotely, so photographs and a clear itemised drawing carry more weight than a showroom visit ever would. A template booked hopefully around another trade is the commonest cause of a wasted visit. No stone is cut from a plan.
