Perivale kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Services coming up through a floor slab mean the island cannot move to suit the stone, so the stone is cut to suit the island. All of that is settled at the nesting stage, because a machined piece cannot be adjusted afterwards. The drawing decides it before the saw does.
1930s semis with rear kitchens and side additions, plus apartments in the converted Deco factory buildings where the kitchen is a straight run with a peninsula in an open-plan space.
Western Avenue runs straight through with limited turnings, so overshooting means a long loop. The Deco conversions have deep window reveals and non-standard ceiling heights, so set the splashback height off the actual reveal rather than the architect's drawing.
Original brickwork is uneven by ten millimetres or more across a bay, so the back edge is scribed to the actual face rather than to a line. Access is by goods lift or a shared stair with a hard turn onto the landing, and both cap the piece length, so the nesting is done to the measured car or turn rather than to the slab. Settled on the drawing, cut once.
The mix here is 1930s semi, Art Deco industrial conversion, interwar terrace and postwar infill. A quote that ignores which one you have is guessing.
True everywhere
Worktop fabrication, in short
- Slabs come in finite sizes, so a long run needs a join.
- Joins sit over a cabinet gable, never spanning a gap or running through a cut-out.
- A finished join is typically 2–3mm, colour-matched and sanded flush.
- Your sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch.

The shape of the run
Because a peninsula is seen from both sides, the underside of any overhang gets the same edge treatment as the top, which is easy to leave out of a spec. A join that lands in the wrong place cannot be moved once the cut-outs are machined, so it is settled on the drawing. The bench proves it before the van does.

What gets asked for here
This is not the local speciality and there is no point saying otherwise: worktop installation, worktop replacement and worktop splashbacks & upstands is what the housing here actually asks for. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way regardless.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop fabrication in Perivale
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Perivale?
Yes. Perivale is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are UB6. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Ealing. Enforcement zones rarely accept a trade van unloading stone as an exemption, so this gets sorted before the date is confirmed rather than argued about afterwards. Pieces are loaded in reverse fitting order so the first thing off the van is the first thing that goes down. That is the last thing settled before dispatch. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Perivale change how worktop fabrication works?
Steel columns and downstands land where the frame put them, which is frequently in the middle of what would otherwise be a clean run. The kitchen is open plan and the island is often long enough to need a join, and it sits in the middle of the room where every edge is visible, so the join goes over a gable and usually under the hob line where the eye does not follow it. The bench proves it before the van moves. The Deco conversions have deep window reveals and non-standard ceiling heights, so set the splashback height off the actual reveal rather than the architect's drawing.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Perivale?
Western Avenue runs straight through with limited turnings, so overshooting means a long loop. Residential streets have drives, but the converted-factory apartments need lift booking and residents' permits. The lift has to be booked and blanketed before anything moves, and that booking needs to cover the old tops coming out as well as the new stone going in. Getting that wrong leaves a finished, machined piece that cannot reach the room, which is a remake rather than a trim. The drawing carries that decision through to the saw.
Do you get much worktop fabrication work in Perivale?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop installation, worktop replacement and worktop splashbacks & upstands. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. Rear and side-return extensions are where the islands appear, and an island is the piece that decides whether one slab does the kitchen or two. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. Proven on the bench before dispatch. A new extension slab is not automatically level, and that wants checking before templating rather than after the stone is cut. Cutting several kitchens from different slabs and calling them matched is where firms get caught out. Nested for the job in front of us.
Why do two Perivale kitchens the same size price differently?
Because a peninsula is seen from both sides, the underside of any overhang gets the same edge treatment as the top, which is easy to leave out of a spec. A join that lands in the wrong place cannot be moved once the cut-outs are machined, so it is settled on the drawing. The bench proves it before the van does. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Window boards and cills stand proud of the plaster, so the back edge of the top has to be plotted to where the units actually sit rather than to the wall. Cut it square where it should be radiused and the piece will fail on the lift, not in the kitchen. Radiused, polished, and clear of the joins. The island layout, including whether the ends are mitred down to the floor, needs settling before cutting, since mitred ends are cut in sequence with the top and dry-assembled as one unit. Access in a tenanted flat depends on the tenant, so the template and fitting dates are agreed with whoever actually holds the keys. The workshop works from the approved drawing, so whoever signs it off is signing off the join positions too. The approved drawing is the instruction.
