Yes. Poplar is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are E14. It is worked on our east London run, along with the rest of Tower Hamlets. A red route means no stopping, and no stopping means exactly that, so the stone comes in from a side street or from a bay behind the property. Two working surfaces at two heights, a return between them and clear knee space under the lower one: that is the shape almost every counter ends up being, whatever the front elevation promised. The lower shelf is there to be used, not to break up an elevation.

The alternative to a join is a shorter run, which is usually the wrong thing to trade away. Where there is a lift, whether it can be booked out and padded matters as much as its size. Doorways, the newel post and the handrail usually take the room away, rather than the stairs themselves. A height barrier on the car park entrance rules out a tail-lift van outright, and the stone then transfers to a trolley at the barrier itself. The lower transaction shelf is short and easily handled; it is the upper counter that has to be walked in on edge and turned at every corner. Two heights means two carries, and the low one is not the difficult one.
