Seven Sisters kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Small, roughly square kitchens with a back door and a window in the middle of the run: short lengths, few joins, and a lot to work around. Taking the old tops off is also the first honest look at what has been going on underneath them. Stone is far heavier than what is coming off.
Runs are short - 2.1m to 2.6m - and the sink often sits off-centre under a window that was never designed for a kitchen.
Where the kitchen has been moved upstairs the waste run is long and shallow, so the sink cut-out position is fixed by the plumbing - template around the existing waste, not around the cabinet centre. Terraces along and behind West Green Road, many converted, with kitchens in the back addition and a fair number relocated into a former bedroom on the first floor.
Working hours are constrained by the business underneath, so noisy work has a window rather than a day. Post-war terraces have small, roughly square kitchens with a back door and a window in the middle of the run, so runs are short and joins are rare, but there are usually two corners and a window cill to work around in a couple of metres. Units kept, surface changed, one day.
The mix here is Victorian terrace, flat above shop and post-war block. A quote that ignores which one you have is guessing.
True everywhere
Worktop replacement, in short
- The units stay. Only the surface changes.
- Old tops come out in the morning, new stone is down and sealed the same day.
- A plumber disconnects the tap and waste before we arrive and reconnects at the end of the day.
- The carcasses have to be sound: stone is far heavier than laminate.
Covered on our north London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.
Victorian and Edwardian terraces
Getting stone into the room
The junction and the High Road are a red-route environment with bus lanes and no waiting, so unloading happens on the residential streets and everything is carried. Above-shop flats have a shared stair used by several tenancies.
A red route means no stopping, and no stopping means exactly that, so the stone comes in from a side street or from a bay behind the property. We stage the strip-out so the old tops leave in one trip rather than trickling out across the afternoon. It is a full day at the kerb, not a delivery.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop replacement in Seven Sisters
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Seven Sisters?
Yes. Seven Sisters is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are N15. It is worked on our north London run, along with the rest of Haringey. Where the frontage is a clearway the unload happens away from the door and the carry gets longer, which is a crew and time question rather than a stone one. A replacement is a two-way job, with old tops going out and new stone coming in, so the van needs to stay put across the whole day. Old tops out and new stone in, both through the same gap. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Seven Sisters change how worktop replacement works?
Working hours are constrained by the business underneath, so noisy work has a window rather than a day. Post-war terraces have small, roughly square kitchens with a back door and a window in the middle of the run, so runs are short and joins are rare, but there are usually two corners and a window cill to work around in a couple of metres. Sound carcasses are the one condition. Where the kitchen has been moved upstairs the waste run is long and shallow, so the sink cut-out position is fixed by the plumbing - template around the existing waste, not around the cabinet centre.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Seven Sisters?
The junction and the High Road are a red-route environment with bus lanes and no waiting, so unloading happens on the residential streets and everything is carried. Above-shop flats have a shared stair used by several tenancies. Stone goes up on edge, and it is the half-landing turn rather than the flight itself that sets the maximum piece. We plan the strip-out and the carry as one movement so the kitchen is only out of use for a single day. That is agreed before a plumber is booked.
Is Seven Sisters mostly worktop replacement work for you?
Yes. On the research for this patch it is the first of the three jobs listed, ahead of worktop installation and worktop splashbacks & upstands. Party-wall and lease conditions in a converted building set when noisy work can happen, which shapes the fitting day more than the kitchen does. The units stay and only the surface changes, so the whole job is one day rather than a kitchen refit. A day, not a project. A kitchen carved out of a larger room sits under whatever the original plan left behind, so the run frequently ends at a blocked doorway or a boxed-in service. Old tops out in the morning, new stone down and sealed the same afternoon. A day, not a project.
Why do two Seven Sisters kitchens the same size price differently?
Galley runs are usually short enough to come out of a single slab, so the material band you choose does more to the total than the room shape does. Old laminate has often been holding a run square for years, and taking it off shows what the units were really doing. Height change is checked before we cut. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
The stone carries the scribe because the wall cannot be persuaded, so back edges are cut oversize and eased in rather than dropped straight down. We would rather find it at template than on the morning, which is why the templater looks behind the units. The laminate has been covering it up. Empty the base units completely and have a plumber disconnect the sink, tap and any washing machine plumbed in under the worktop before we arrive. A street with houses in single occupation next to the same houses cut into flats produces two completely different jobs from the same elevation. A plumber disconnects before we arrive and reconnects after we leave, and that is worth booking early. Units kept, surface changed.
