Upkeep is settled when the slab is chosen, since it belongs to the material rather than the fabrication. A seal is not waterproofing. It only buys time to wipe a spill up. Granite is porous to varying degrees, so it is sealed when we fit it and topped up over the life of the worktop. Wider halls make the carry noticeably easier, and that alone can remove a join that a narrower terrace would have forced into the run. Either way the walls are thin, the floor is boards over shallow joists and nothing meets at a right angle, so the vanity is scribed at both ends and the unit is fixed back to the wall as well as standing on the floor. A bathroom carved out of a bedroom keeps the bedroom window.

If your own slab breaks there is no matching replacement to hand, and that is the real difference. Say what you have and where it came from before anything is booked, because thickness and batch decide what can be done with it. How much slab you hold matters: upstands and any remake have to come out of the same batch. An annexe kitchen is often built to keep a parent independent, so worktop height and reach matter as much as the material does. A house divided into flats needs a vanity for each of them, and small repeated pieces are the one case where buying a whole slab makes sense. Repeat work is where a vanity stops being an afterthought.
