Camberwell kitchens
The buildings and streets around Camberwell
The single biggest variable in what bathroom worktop fitting costs in Camberwell is not the material you pick but the room you are asking it to fit. The Georgian houses on the hill are mostly flats, with kitchens tucked into a rear closet wing or a lower ground room; the Victorian terraces further out are the classic side-return job where the kitchen becomes a 5m by 4m rear room with an island of about 1.8m and a run of 3m to 3.6m. If you are not sure, say so when you get in touch. It is a normal answer and we work with it.
Injected damp courses and re-rendered lower walls leave the bottom metre standing proud of everything above it. Humidity is the difference nobody mentions, because a room that fills with steam twice a day treats sealant, grout and every joint in it far harder than a kitchen ever does. The depth sets the piece, not the length of the wall.
Original quarry tiles survive under a later vinyl in many of these, and lifting the units off them shows how far the floor has fallen towards the garden end. The bathroom in one of these is almost never original: it is a later room over the back addition, or a bedroom divided in two. Older walls give a vanity nothing straight to sit against.
The building stock is Georgian terrace, Victorian villa, Victorian terrace and 1950s and 1960s council estate. That is why the same worktop costs differently two doors apart.
