Woodford Bridge kitchens
The kitchens we meet in Woodford Bridge
No two streets in Woodford Bridge throw up the same problem, and the installations we book there are priced off what is actually behind the units rather than off a floor plan. A mixed pocket down towards the Roding, with older cottages near the bridge, inter-war semis and newer developments including the housing built on the former Claybury hospital grounds. The newer houses have compact well-planned kitchens taking a straight replacement, while the semis are usually mid-extension with a new opening formed into the garden room. The tape measure decides it, not the description above, and not anything anybody says over the telephone.
Original quarry tile is often still down under two or three later floor coverings, which is why the finished floor height is rarely what anyone expects. A run that has to be scribed twice takes an hour longer than one that does not, and the day is costed with that hour in it. Dust extraction indoors, or the cut happens outside.
That rear wall carries the back door and the only window, which leaves very little uninterrupted length for a sink run. Scribing takes longer than the carry does, so the quiet half of the day is the half that runs over. The shell has the last word on fitting day.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to Victorian cottage, 1930s semi, post-war estate house and 1990s-2000s development. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
