A conversion usually puts the kitchen against a bedroom wall, so the sink and the machines end up where the drainage and the noise allow. Every one of those positions is a machined cut-out. The mitres and the cut-outs are itemised, because that is where the work is.

Solid walls have no true line, and a long return can lose the best part of an inch across a room. That correction is machined in at the works, so the template has to catch it. That is a fabrication decision, taken before anything is cut.

What moves the price

Our sintered stone runs from £250 to £300 per square metre for most of the catalogue, with 65 colours in the range. On rooms this size the number is set by slab yield: how many pieces come out of a slab, and whether an island needs a second one. Square metreage is the last thing we work out, not the first.

Questions

Dekton & sintered in Camden

Our flat is a converted house — does that change the sintered stone worktop?

It changes the piece list more than the material. Conversions give you stairs that turn and rooms that are rarely square, so we template after the units are fixed and plan any join around the carry. The specification stays the same; how it arrives does not.

Will sintered stone sit properly against the old walls in a Camden kitchen?

Yes, provided it is templated and not estimated. Walls this age are rarely straight, so the wall line is cut from a physical template taken after the units are fixed and level. That is why we do not quote a worktop from a floor plan.

Do you cover the whole of Camden?

Yes — 23 neighbourhoods across 15 postcode districts, Belsize Park, Bloomsbury, Camden Town and Chalk Farm among them. There is nothing to visit: the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there by the same team.
