Enfield Lock kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
The room is square, the walls are plumb and the floor is flat, so almost every complication in the job belongs to the building rather than the kitchen. Two to three hours on site, once the units are fitted, fixed and level. Sink, tap and hob on site, not on order.
The Island is reached over a small number of bridged access roads with tight turning heads and resident-only bays, so plan the van position before you arrive rather than driving round. Work here is mostly first-owner upgrades from builder-grade laminate, plus matching upstands rather than full-height splashbacks. Enfield Island Village houses have compact modern kitchens on a standard 600 grid, usually an L with 2.8m and 1.8m legs and no room for an island.
Floor-to-ceiling glazing lights the worktop from one side all day, which shows every ripple in a polished surface and every gap at a scribe. The template records that corner as it is, so the mitre closes tight instead of being cut to a theoretical 90 degrees. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to 1990s Island Village house, 2000s waterside flat and Victorian factory-worker terrace. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered on our north London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The building, and what it does to the job
Ceilings and window reveals are low in these units - measure the upstand height at the window cill, it is frequently under 100mm.
Where a run finishes into a reveal, the depth of that reveal is taken at worktop height and nowhere else. The template plots it as it is, at the exact height the worktop will sit, and the drawing carries that through. Plotted, not estimated.
The internal corner - the room is square but the plasterboard is not, and a mitre cut to a plan angle will show a gap against the wall.

What gets asked for here
Honestly, this is not what we do most on this patch. Worktop replacement, worktop splashbacks & upstands and worktop installation come up more often. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work, and nothing about how it is quoted, cut or fitted changes because of it.

Getting stone into a Enfield Lock kitchen
The Island is reached over a small number of bridged access roads with tight turning heads and resident-only bays, so plan the van position before you arrive rather than driving round.
Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop templating in Enfield Lock
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Enfield Lock?
Yes. Enfield Lock is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are EN3. It is worked on our north London run, along with the rest of Enfield. Permit hours are what matters, not the permit itself, because a bay that frees up at six in the evening is no use for a template at ten. A templater circling for a space arrives late into a slot that was already tight, and the drawing is what suffers. Two hours is the realistic figure. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Enfield Lock change how worktop templating works?
Floor-to-ceiling glazing lights the worktop from one side all day, which shows every ripple in a polished surface and every gap at a scribe. The room is square and the plasterboard is not, so the internal corner is recorded as it is rather than as ninety degrees. Two to three hours, once the units are in. Ceilings and window reveals are low in these units - measure the upstand height at the window cill, it is frequently under 100mm.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Enfield Lock?
The Island is reached over a small number of bridged access roads with tight turning heads and resident-only bays, so plan the van position before you arrive rather than driving round. Everything comes through the front door and down the hall, so the tightest point on the route is usually the newel post at the foot of the stairs. The templater measures that route on the same visit, so the drawing leaves site already knowing the maximum piece. It goes on the drawing with the run dimensions.
Do you get much worktop templating work in Enfield Lock?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop replacement, worktop splashbacks & upstands and worktop installation. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. Developer-fitted kitchens come with thin cam-lock carcasses, which are fine under laminate and want bracing before stone goes on them. Two to three hours on site, with the sink, tap and hob physically present. Units fitted, fixed and level first. Housings and integrated appliances are set out for a 38mm laminate top, so dropping to 20mm or 30mm stone changes the clearances and needs checking before anything is cut. The template visit is booked once the units are genuinely in, not when they are nearly in. The room as it is, not as it was drawn.
Why do two Enfield Lock kitchens the same size price differently?
If the island is a few hundred millimetres longer than the usable length of a slab, a second slab gets bought to gain that overhang, and the whole slab is paid for rather than the part used. The template records every angle in that shape as it actually is rather than as the plan drew it. One datum for the whole room. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Where a run finishes into a reveal, the depth of that reveal is taken at worktop height and nowhere else. The template plots it as it is, at the exact height the worktop will sit, and the drawing carries that through. Plotted, not estimated. Boards taped or skimmed and finished, units fixed back to the wall and levelled off, and the appliances on site - the wall must be at its final thickness on template day, so no tiler or splashback fitter gets ahead of the worktop. The same building type can arrive as a careful one-off kitchen or as a fast turnaround, and the honest answer is that they are priced differently. A template booked hopefully around another trade is the commonest cause of a wasted visit. Fitted, fixed and level, then we come.
