Worktop installation in Golders Green
Fitting day: protected route, back edges scribed to the real wall line, joins pulled flush, sink and hob sealed.
Golders Green kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
This is a logistics job before it is a stone job, and the lift car is usually the single biggest constraint on the design. The fitting day is planned backwards from all of it, before the first piece comes off the van. One visit, our own installers.
Two clear kitchen types: 1930s mansion flats with fixed compact kitchens against a services wall, and family houses where a full kosher kitchen is the standard brief with two sinks, two dishwashers, separate meat and dairy runs, often two ovens and space for a Shabbat hot plate. That doubles the number of cut-outs and usually means two matched worktop runs rather than one.
Kosher layouts must be agreed before templating because the meat and dairy split changes sink positions, drainer grooves and joint locations across the whole kitchen.
These kitchens are full of boxed soil stacks, gas risers and heating pipework, and the boxing usually stops short of the ceiling. This is the most managed day we do. That is the shape of the day.
The buildings themselves are mostly 1930s mansion block, Edwardian and 1920s semi and large detached off the main roads. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
True everywhere
Worktop installation, in short
- One visit. A straightforward run is a morning; an island and splashbacks take most of the day.
- Every piece is carried in by hand, and stone does not bend.
- We seat and seal the sink and hob. We do not connect water, waste, gas or electrics.
- Floors and units are protected before anything comes through the door.
Covered from the Watford patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.
mansion blocks and purpose-built flats
The building, and what it does to the job
The block's permitted works hours and the booked goods lift slot, which set a hard stop on the day whatever stage we are at.

What gets asked for here
It is on the shortlist for this patch rather than at the top of it, because worktop design & quotation comes up more often. Nothing about the process differs between the two.
mansion blocks and purpose-built flats
Getting stone into the room
Mansion blocks with small original lifts, stone stairs and porters, plus permit parking that is full by mid-morning along the main roads. Houses off the side streets have driveways, but the mansion flats are the defining access problem.
A car that takes 2.4m on the diagonal will not take a three-metre worktop however it is stood, and there is no trimming it on the landing. We walk the route with a tape and protect it end to end before the first piece is lifted. That is what the morning is planned around.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop installation in Golders Green
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Golders Green?
Yes. Golders Green is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are NW11. It is run from the Watford side, covering Hertfordshire & North London. A controlled parking zone means either a visitor permit sorted in advance or a suspended bay, and a suspension is applied for days ahead rather than on the morning. We aim for the first slot of the day where parking is tight, because that is when the street is emptiest. We would rather ask than guess. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Golders Green change how worktop installation works?
The lift is a small passenger car with a gate, and the alternative is a stone stair winding round the shaft with a turn at every half-landing. This is the most managed day we do. Walked, measured, protected, then lifted. Kosher layouts must be agreed before templating because the meat and dairy split changes sink positions, drainer grooves and joint locations across the whole kitchen.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Golders Green?
Mansion blocks with small original lifts, stone stairs and porters, plus permit parking that is full by mid-morning along the main roads. Houses off the side streets have driveways, but the mansion flats are the defining access problem. Piece length is set by the internal diagonal of the lift car, not by the length of the slab. Finding it out on the morning costs the whole slot, because there is no second route to fall back on. That is what the morning is planned around. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Do you do much worktop installation around Golders Green?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop design & quotation. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. A worktop replacement between tenancies is a single-day job by design, because the flat is not earning while it is empty. The fitting day is scheduled to suit that rather than to suit the diary. The prep list is not optional. A worktop replacement between tenancies is a single-day job by design, because the flat is not earning while it is empty. One visit, with the sink and hob seated and sealed before we leave. Sealed before we leave.
Why do two Golders Green kitchens the same size price differently?
Two parallel runs with a walkway between them is the most efficient shape there is on a slab, because both pieces nest as straight lengths with almost no waste. On the day that means dry-laying the whole layout first and only then pulling and bonding the joins. The join is the last thing finished. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Anything that has to stay accessible, a stopcock, a gas meter, a riser panel, is marked on the template so the stone is cut around it instead of over it. Rushing that is what leaves a gap you look at every morning for fifteen years. Eased in, never forced. Have the works booking confirmed with the managing agent or porter in advance, with the lift slot and any parking permit or bay suspension in place. Owner-occupied kitchens are usually being done once, which is why the edge profile, the vein direction and where a join falls are worth the conversation. Floors and units are protected before anything comes through the door, communal or otherwise. Protection goes down first.
