Worktop templating in Spring Grove
A digital template plotting the room as it really is, taken once your units are fitted, fixed and level.
Spring Grove kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
These are the multi-piece jobs, where vein direction across a join matters as much as the join itself. The template records what the building actually did, not what the plan intended, and the gap between those two is what this visit is for. Units fitted, fixed and level first.
Big villas cut into flats and houses in multiple occupation, which means several small kitchens per building, runs of 1.8m to 2.6m, hard-wearing specs and landlord decision-making rather than homeowner detail.
Everything goes up a dog-leg staircase, so keep sections under 2m and walk the turn with a tape before you commit a cut.
A range sitting in a chimney recess is common, and the flanking pieces are cut with the manufacturer clearance built into the template. Long perimeter runs and an island mean level has to hold across the whole room, so the templater sets a single datum and works every run and the island off it rather than levelling each wall in isolation. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
The buildings themselves are mostly Large Victorian villa, Edwardian villa, 1970s conversion flat and purpose-built student housing. A quote that ignores which one you have is guessing.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered from the High Wycombe patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The building, and what it does to the job
Level across the room rather than along one wall - a floor that falls away from one end to the other shows up as a step between the island top and the perimeter run once both are down.

Getting stone into the room
Some villas keep an in-and-out drive, but the conversions share a front door, a hall and a Victorian staircase with a half-landing turn that every piece has to negotiate.

What gets asked for here
Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. No stone is ever cut from a plan, which is inconvenient exactly when a programme is tight. Appliances on site, not on order.
Second or third on the list around here, after worktop replacement. Same visit, same bench, same crew, same lead time.

True everywhere, stated once
A template records what the building actually did, not what the plan intended. How far those two things diverge is entirely a function of when the house was built.

Questions
Worktop templating in Spring Grove
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Spring Grove?
Yes. Spring Grove is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are TW7. It is run from the High Wycombe side, covering Buckinghamshire & Berkshire. A front drive is the best thing that can happen to a fitting day, because the tail lift comes down within a few metres of the door and nothing is on a clock. The templating visit needs somewhere to stop for two or three hours, which is a different problem from unloading for twenty minutes. It goes on the job sheet for the fitting crew. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Spring Grove change how worktop templating works?
Original walls are thick, lime-plastered and rarely straight, which makes dry-laying and scribing the bulk of the fitting day. Long perimeter runs and an island mean level has to hold across the whole room, so the templater sets a single datum and works every run and the island off it rather than levelling each wall in isolation. Two to three hours, once the units are in. Everything goes up a dog-leg staircase, so keep sections under 2m and walk the turn with a tape before you commit a cut.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Spring Grove?
Some villas keep an in-and-out drive, but the conversions share a front door, a hall and a Victorian staircase with a half-landing turn that every piece has to negotiate. Communal stairs get boarded and the handrail padded, and we walk the route with a tape before the first piece leaves the van. A template taken without walking the route produces a drawing that cuts beautifully and will not go in. The laser records it along with everything else. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Do you do much worktop templating around Spring Grove?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop replacement. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. A worktop replacement between tenancies is a single-day job by design, because the flat is not earning while it is empty. Two to three hours on site, with the sink, tap and hob physically present. The room as it is, not as it was drawn. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. No stone is ever cut from a plan, which is inconvenient exactly when a programme is tight. Appliances on site, not on order.
Why do two Spring Grove kitchens the same size price differently?
Galley runs are usually short enough to come out of a single slab, so the material band you choose does more to the total than the room shape does. A layout templated off one wall instead of one datum will not sit right once all the pieces are down together. One datum for the whole room. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Alcove pieces get cut oversize on both scribe edges, with the true wall angles carried on the template drawing rather than assumed. It is recorded on the drawing with the run dimensions so the workshop is not guessing. Measured at worktop height, nowhere else. All runs and the island carcass fixed down and levelled to one datum, with the sink, tap and hob on site - an island cannot be templated while it is still loose or sitting on packers. Quartz is the sensible default in a rental: nothing to seal, nothing to maintain, and nothing an incoming tenant needs briefing on. A template booked hopefully around another trade is the commonest cause of a wasted visit. Appliances on site, not on order.
