Yes. Euston is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are NW1. It is worked on our central and north London run, along with the rest of Camden. A bus lane along the frontage brings its own hours with it, and stopping in one is enforced the same way the red route is. It rarely changes what we cut, but it does change how the pieces are stacked and strapped for the run out. Handling counts are decided here, not on the pavement. Your part of it happens entirely at home, with nothing to travel to and nothing to bring back.

Kitchens sit one above another on the same line up the block, so the stack a sink joins is shared with the flats above and below it. The kitchen is usually a small square or L-shaped room reached through a narrow entrance lobby and a standard internal doorway, so the limit on piece length is the turn out of the lobby, and short runs mean joins are often avoidable altogether if the layout is nested tightly. The template carries the building into the workshop. A boxed soil stack or service riser in the corner of a run eats into the worktop depth and has to be scribed around rather than cut square. The template drawing carries the real geometry through to the saw, and the piece is machined to it rather than trimmed to it later. The mitre is cut to the angle we found, not to ninety.

A short run of external steps before the communal door means a piece is lifted twice before the staircase proper has even started. So the nesting is worked to the measured route first and to the slab second. Machining happens after the carry length is fixed, not before. The van is not staying on a main road for the day, so once the stone is off it goes and parks properly somewhere else. Where unloading has to happen in one go, the load order is planned so nothing has to come off twice. Two trips off the van means two chances to catch a corner.

Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop replacement, worktop installation and worktop splashbacks & upstands. That is a point about the buildings round here, not about the job. The quoting, the cutting and the fitting are identical here to anywhere else we work. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. The batch stays together to the crate. Landlord work is scheduled around void periods, so the whole thing is a fixed window and the template date matters as much as the fitting date. Boxing is rarely the same depth at worktop height as it is at floor level, so measuring it low down is the usual reason a top will not sit back. Cut it square where it should be radiused and the piece will fail on the lift, not in the kitchen. Upstands leave the bench in lengths, not as one run. The stack boxing needs to be in its final form and the sink and hob on site before we machine, since a boxing that gets re-clad afterwards throws the notch out. Where ownership is split across a building, the common parts belong to someone else and the carry route is negotiated rather than assumed. The workshop works from the approved drawing, so whoever signs it off is signing off the join positions too. One batch wherever the specification repeats.

Packing takes up small variation. It is not there to hide something that belongs in the units. A long top on units that were shimmed once and never checked is the commonest version of this, and it is cheap to fix beforehand. Where a run meets an appliance, level decides whether that appliance door still clears the stone above it. Anything that has to stay accessible, a stopcock, a gas meter, a riser panel, is marked on the template so the stone is cut around it instead of over it. The workshop cuts to the plotted line rather than to a nominal dimension, which is why a scribe edge leaves the bench deliberately oversize. Radius first, polish second, joins nowhere near.

Grooves and an undermounted bowl are usually specified together, since the grooves are run to the bowl edge. A groove set is its own item on the quote rather than something rolled in with the sink cut-out. The bowl position has to be settled before templating, since the grooves are set out from it. The ceiling is a concrete soffit with a skim on it, so there is nothing to fix into overhead and no void to hide anything in. All of that is settled at the nesting stage, because a machined piece cannot be adjusted afterwards. Two slabs get sequenced when one will not cover the run.

A full-height piece shows a wall that is out more than an upstand does, over the extra height. Upstand or splashback, the stone is cut from the same slab run as the worktop, at the same time, so the batch actually matches. An upstand is a slim strip that follows the worktop up the wall; a full-height splashback runs from the worktop to the underside of the wall units. Flats are handed in pairs about the stair core, so half the kitchens in the block are the mirror image of the other half. Walls in the system-built blocks are concrete or panel and can bow noticeably over the length of a run, so the template picks up the real line and we cut the back edge to follow it rather than trimming on site with a grinder. A wall that leans is machined to the lean.

Money does not move until the template is done. The template is taken in your kitchen after the units are in and fixed, never before. If the units run late the template moves, not the fit: the gap between them is fabrication. Where the kitchen has been opened into the living room the opening was trimmed with a steel, and a stub of the old wall was left standing at one end. The workshop works to the template drawing and to the measured route, in that order. Book-matching is decided at the slab, not at the saw.
