Yes. Kensal Rise is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are NW10. It is worked on our north west London run, along with the rest of Brent. Loading concessions differ from one zone to the next rather than following a single national rule, so what applied on the last job proves nothing about this one. It rarely changes what we cut, but it does change how the pieces are stacked and strapped for the run out. Stacking order is a parking decision here. Your part of it happens entirely at home, with nothing to travel to and nothing to bring back.

These are built in dense concrete, so support for a peninsula or an end panel goes in with proper anchors rather than plugs. The kitchen is usually a small square or L-shaped room reached through a narrow entrance lobby and a standard internal doorway, so the limit on piece length is the turn out of the lobby, and short runs mean joins are often avoidable altogether if the layout is nested tightly. Thin partitions get shallower overhangs, decided in the shop. Level has to hold across the whole room rather than along one wall, or a floor that falls end to end shows as a step where two pieces meet. The template drawing carries the real geometry through to the saw, and the piece is machined to it rather than trimmed to it later. A square internal corner is a crack waiting.

A communal flight is out of use while a piece is on it, so the carry is timed so nobody is trying to pass on a half-landing. So the nesting is worked to the measured route first and to the slab second. A remake is the price of guessing that measurement. A van waiting on a loading concession has somebody standing with it, because a vehicle left unattended is the one that collects the ticket. Where unloading has to happen in one go, the load order is planned so nothing has to come off twice. The van is packed to suit the walk at the other end.

Cut it square where it should be radiused and the piece will fail on the lift, not in the kitchen. Oversize on the scribe edge, always. The stack boxing needs to be in its final form and the sink and hob on site before we machine, since a boxing that gets re-clad afterwards throws the notch out. Flats bought out of managed stock keep the original kitchen dimensions long after the ownership changed, so the layout says very little about who is paying for the work. The workshop works from the approved drawing, so whoever signs it off is signing off the join positions too. An agent forwarding a drawing is not approving it.

Tiling bonded to the wall behind usually comes away with the old top, so that wall is agreed beforehand. Carcasses stay. Surface changes. That is the whole of it. The template can be taken with the old top still down, which is why one visit covers both. Controlled hours that end in the middle of the afternoon make the second half of the day easy and put the whole problem in the first half. Upstand or splashback, the stone is cut from the same slab run as the worktop, at the same time, so the batch actually matches. Tiling and stone can meet, but where they meet is decided before the template rather than after. The joint between splashback and worktop is siliconed, never grouted, so it can move a little without cracking. Where the kitchen is on the entrance level, the piece comes off the deck and turns straight in without going up or down at all. Walls in the system-built blocks are concrete or panel and can bow noticeably over the length of a run, so the template picks up the real line and we cut the back edge to follow it rather than trimming on site with a grinder. The template carries the building into the workshop.
