Kidbrooke kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
The room is square, the walls are plumb and the floor is flat, so almost every complication in the job belongs to the building rather than the kitchen. The workshop works to the template drawing and to the measured route, in that order. Proven on the bench, then loaded.
Mostly new-build: apartments with an open-plan single run and island, and three-storey townhouses with the kitchen at ground level opening to a small garden. Developer worktops are thin composite or laminate, so the common job is upgrading to 20mm quartz without touching the units.
An infill house is built to modern standards on an old plot, so the room is square even though the site around it is not. The lift diagonal governs the longest piece, so the join count is fixed at nesting and cannot be revisited on the day. Every join over a gable, clear of every cut-out.
The buildings themselves are mostly 2010s-2020s Kidbrooke Village apartments, new-build townhouse, 1930s semi and postwar estate remnant. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
True everywhere
Worktop fabrication, in short
- Slabs come in finite sizes, so a long run needs a join.
- Joins sit over a cabinet gable, never spanning a gap or running through a cut-out.
- A finished join is typically 2–3mm, colour-matched and sanded flush.
- Your sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch.
Covered on our south east London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

The building, and what it does to the job
Everything is square and level for once, so the risk sits in the developer's sink and hob cut-outs, not the walls.

Getting stone into the room
New estate roads with controlled parking, marked loading bays, and blocks with lobbies and lifts rather than street doors; permits and delivery windows go through the estate office.
Piece length is set by the internal diagonal of the lift car, not by the length of the slab. The maximum piece length is fixed at drawing stage and every join is placed over a cabinet gable from there. The drawing carries that decision through to the saw.

What gets asked for here
This is not the local speciality and there is no point saying otherwise: worktop replacement, worktop templating and worktop splashbacks & upstands is what the housing here actually asks for. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way regardless.
new-build flats and apartments
True everywhere, stated once
Fabrication is where access quietly becomes a design decision. How the stone reaches the room decides how big each piece can be, and therefore how many joins the kitchen ends up with.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop fabrication in Kidbrooke
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Kidbrooke?
Yes. Kidbrooke is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are SE3, SE9. It is worked on our south east London run, along with the rest of Greenwich. Bay bookings are usually an hour or two, which is fine for unloading and no use at all as a place to leave the van for a day. Where unloading has to happen in one go, the load order is planned so nothing has to come off twice. The load plan follows from it. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Kidbrooke change how worktop fabrication works?
Access is a question about the plot rather than the house: a narrow frontage between older buildings with nowhere obvious to stand a van. We work to the internal depth of the car and the diagonal you can actually stand a piece up on with the doors closed, then nest to that, which routinely turns a two-piece kitchen into a three-piece one with an extra join over a gable. The bench proves it before the van moves. Everything is square and level for once, so the risk sits in the developer's sink and hob cut-outs, not the walls.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Kidbrooke?
New estate roads with controlled parking, marked loading bays, and blocks with lobbies and lifts rather than street doors; permits and delivery windows go through the estate office. Piece length is set by the internal diagonal of the lift car, not by the length of the slab. The maximum piece length is fixed at drawing stage and every join is placed over a cabinet gable from there. The drawing carries that decision through to the saw.
Do you get much worktop fabrication work in Kidbrooke?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop replacement, worktop templating and worktop splashbacks & upstands. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. The junction between the original room and the extension is the point to watch, because the two floors rarely sit at the same height. Cutting several kitchens from different slabs and calling them matched is where firms get caught out. Proven on the bench before dispatch. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. Pieces are dry-assembled and checked on the bench before anything is loaded. Nested for the job in front of us.
Why do two Kidbrooke kitchens the same size price differently?
Galley runs are usually short enough to come out of a single slab, so the material band you choose does more to the total than the room shape does. A join that lands in the wrong place cannot be moved once the cut-outs are machined, so it is settled on the drawing. That is nested before any glass goes on the saw. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Dot-and-dab plasterboard sounds solid and is hollow behind, so anything fixed through it has to hit a dab or a batten rather than a void. Internal corners are machined with a radius and polished, and kept well clear of any join or cut-out. The drawing decides it, not the fitter. Sink, tap and hob need to be with us before machining, along with confirmation of whether the island is getting a breakfast overhang, since anything past roughly 300mm unsupported needs steel let into the carcasses and that has to be built in, not added later. A street with houses in single occupation next to the same houses cut into flats produces two completely different jobs from the same elevation. Changing an appliance after the nest is set means recutting the piece, not adjusting it. Dry-assembled before it leaves.
