Worktop fabrication in Loxford
Your slab nested, cut to the template drawing, mitred, machined and dry-assembled on the bench before anything is loaded.
Loxford kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Nothing in a house of this age is square, and the kitchen is usually the part that has been altered most often. The workshop works to the template drawing and to the measured route, in that order. Proven on the bench, then loaded.
Tight terraced kitchens in the original back addition, typically a single 2.4-3m run with the boiler above it and the back door at the end, so the layout is fixed and the job is about getting the most usable length out of a narrow room.
Nine times out of ten the units are old and out of level here, so we scribe hard to the wall and expect to pack the run rather than trust the existing tops as a guide. A lot of these are rented or recently bought and the units are staying — we are cutting to fit existing carcasses rather than starting fresh.
The rear wall is usually a single brick thick and has been rendered, patched and re-rendered, so it bows in and out along the length of the run. Pieces are sized to the tightest turn on the route before anything is nested to the slab. Every join over a gable, clear of every cut-out.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to Victorian two-up two-down terrace, inter-war terrace and low-rise flat. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
True everywhere
Worktop fabrication, in short
- Slabs come in finite sizes, so a long run needs a join.
- Joins sit over a cabinet gable, never spanning a gap or running through a cut-out.
- A finished join is typically 2–3mm, colour-matched and sanded flush.
- Your sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch.
Covered from the Essex patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.
Victorian and Edwardian terraces
Getting stone into the room
Narrow terraced streets with rear service alleys, heavy on-street parking pressure and very little off-street space, so slabs generally come off the van at the kerb and go through the front door and down the hall.

What gets asked for here
Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. Same slab run, or it is not a match.
The research on this patch does not put this among the three commonest jobs. Worktop replacement, worktop templating and worktop splashbacks & upstands do. That changes how often we are here, not how the work is done.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Worktop fabrication in Loxford
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you actually work in Loxford, or just list it?
Yes. Loxford is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are IG1. It is run from the Essex side, covering Essex & East London. Permit hours are what matters, not the permit itself, because a bay that frees up at six in the evening is no use for a template at ten. Where unloading has to happen in one go, the load order is planned so nothing has to come off twice. It is decided in the yard, not at the kerb. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
What is different about worktop fabrication in Loxford?
Deep original skirting is often left in behind the units, standing them off the wall, so the back edge of the stone is plotted where the carcasses actually sit. The other constraint is the hall: a piece has to come through the front door, round the newel at the foot of the stairs and through a doorway into the back kitchen, so we size the pieces to the tightest turn on that route before we nest anything, which sometimes means splitting a run that would otherwise have gone in whole. Every join over a gable, clear of every cut-out. Nine times out of ten the units are old and out of level here, so we scribe hard to the wall and expect to pack the run rather than trust the existing tops as a guide.
Is access a problem in Loxford?
Narrow terraced streets with rear service alleys, heavy on-street parking pressure and very little off-street space, so slabs generally come off the van at the kerb and go through the front door and down the hall. Carrying through the house means protecting the whole route first: floor boarded, banister padded, and the front door held open on a wedge rather than by hand. The maximum piece length is fixed at drawing stage and every join is placed over a cabinet gable from there. It is settled on the bench, not on site. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Do you get much worktop fabrication work in Loxford?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop replacement, worktop templating and worktop splashbacks & upstands. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. Quartz suits let property well: no sealing, no annual maintenance, and nothing an incoming tenant has to be told to look after. Cutting several kitchens from different slabs and calling them matched is where firms get caught out. Proven on the bench before dispatch. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. Same slab run, or it is not a match.
What decides the price of a worktop in Loxford?
Galley runs are usually short enough to come out of a single slab, so the material band you choose does more to the total than the room shape does. A join that lands in the wrong place cannot be moved once the cut-outs are machined, so it is settled on the drawing. The bench proves it before the van does. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What do I need to sort out first?
Level has to hold across the whole room rather than along one wall, or a floor that falls end to end shows as a step where two pieces meet. The template drawing carries the real geometry through to the saw, and the piece is machined to it rather than trimmed to it later. The drawing decides it, not the fitter. The sink and hob need to be on site and the run layout fixed before we start cutting, because moving a hob after the join position is set means recutting the whole piece. Where ownership is split across a building, the common parts belong to someone else and the carry route is negotiated rather than assumed. The workshop works from the approved drawing, so whoever signs it off is signing off the join positions too. The approved drawing is the instruction.
