There is no leaning a piece against a wall halfway up, so any flight longer than a dozen treads is planned around a rest point on a landing. So the nesting is worked to the measured route first and to the slab second. A piece too long for the stairs is a piece cut twice. A bus lane along the frontage brings its own hours with it, and stopping in one is enforced the same way the red route is. Where unloading has to happen in one go, the load order is planned so nothing has to come off twice. The strapping answers to the walk, not the drive.

Not really, and claiming otherwise would cost nothing and mean nothing. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop replacement and worktop installation. It reflects the local housing rather than any difference in the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted here the same way it is anywhere else on the patch. Party-wall and lease conditions in a converted building set when noisy work can happen, which shapes the fitting day more than the kitchen does. Sill height gets settled with the template on site, because it is one of the few dimensions nobody has measured before we arrive. Internal corners are machined with a radius and polished, and kept well clear of any join or cut-out. Geometry first, then the saw. The sink and hob need to be on site and the run layout fixed before we start cutting, because moving a hob after the join position is set means recutting the whole piece. Whoever manages the block controls the lift booking, the bin store and the visitor parking, and none of that sits in the gift of the household whose kitchen it is. The workshop works from the approved drawing, so whoever signs it off is signing off the join positions too. Cut once, to the sheet that came back signed.

The same firm templates and fits. Nobody else is brought in to install. The fit follows 5 to 10 working days after the template, and nothing is cut before that visit because nothing is cut from a plan. No money changes hands before the template. Ground floors fall away towards the garden across the whole footprint, so the units are packed up long before anything is measured for stone. All of that is settled at the nesting stage, because a machined piece cannot be adjusted afterwards. The slab is laid out around the awkward piece.

The alternative stands on the surface, so the choice is losing worktop permanently or only while you are draining. They read strongly across a dark stone and are nearly invisible on a pale one, so look before deciding. The back addition is frequently a single skin of brick rendered on both faces, which takes a fixing badly and moves with the weather. The workshop works to the template drawing and to the measured route, in that order. Machined in the shop, where it belongs.

Disposal means it goes in the van, not into the garden to wait for a collection. What comes out goes by the same route the new stone comes in by, which is why that route is walked before anything is lifted. The units stay where they are and only the surface changes. The van is not staying on a main road for the day, so once the stone is off it goes and parks properly somewhere else. Where the carry is long the pieces are strapped for handling rather than for the shortest route off the tail lift. Stacking order is a parking decision here.

A sit-on sink and an undermounted one are different cut-outs, so which it is gets settled before the template. A piece with a bowl and a hob cut into it is the fragile one, and it is handled accordingly. A boiling tap needs a hole of its own and a cupboard below for the tank, so the units change too. A galley that is also the route to the back door is a corridor first and a kitchen second, and what the shape can take is set by the traffic going through it. Pieces are dry-assembled on the bench before dispatch so the corners are known to close before they leave the workshop. The corner is proven on the bench first.
