Alaska in real kitchens

A sample square tells you the pattern. These are Alaska worktops we templated and fitted, so you can see how the same surface reads across a full run, around a sink, and under kitchen lighting rather than showroom lighting.

Our own installations, photographed on the day. Kitchen lighting and camera white balance both change how a surface reads, so take these as a guide to how the pattern behaves at scale rather than as a colour match. Order a free sample for that.

Is it right for you

What Alaska suits

Supply only, Alaska runs £150 per square metre. That is 13th out of the 69 quartz surfaces on the list. That is £30 under the £180 median for the family, which makes it one of the more affordable ways into this material. The next quartz down in price is White Speckle at £140.

It suits somebody who wants veined stone without the upkeep that comes with it, and it disappoints anybody expecting the depth of a quarried slab. What you get instead is the same look on the twelfth metre as the first.

There is £20 of quartz priced below Alaska and £350 of it above, which is worth knowing before treating the rate as high or low. 8 other surfaces in the catalogue carry the same rate, across different materials, so the price alone will not choose between them. Of the 11 marble quartz surfaces, Alaska is the 2nd by price.

10 other quartz surfaces share its marble tone, Polar White at £170, Royal Gold Vein at £170 and Calacatta Gold at £180 among them. At a similar price you could have Dunna, a sintered stone at £150, which is a different material doing a different job for roughly the same money.

Order a sample before committing a whole kitchen to it. Plain engineered colours at this end read flatter in a real room than in a photograph, and half an hour on your own worktop under your own lights settles it.

The photograph above is indicative. Screens shift colour, and batches vary, so a slab can read warmer or cooler than an image suggests. A free sample under your own lighting settles it in a way no photograph can.

What happens after you pick a colour

  1. A written quote

Send the sizes, a plan or a few photographs. A person prices it and itemises every piece, cut-out and edge.

  2. The template visit

Two to three hours for a typical kitchen. We digitally template every run, record wall run-out, unit heights and appliance positions, agree with you where the joins will fall and where the tap holes and drainer grooves go, and confirm the edge profile.

  3. Fitted in 5–10 working days

Alaska is cut to that template and fitted 5 to 10 working days from template, with a 5-year workmanship guarantee.

Before you commit

What you pay, and when you can still change your mind

Nothing to see the price

The survey and the written quote cost nothing and carry no deposit. A deposit is taken when you accept and book the template, and the balance is due before installation. Every cut-out, edge and join is priced on its own line.

Cancel before the template

Up to the template visit you can cancel and we refund the deposit less anything already spent reserving material. After it, the stone is cut to your kitchen and cannot be put back, which is why we template rather than work from your measurements. Read the terms

Something to show them

If someone else has to agree, a free Alaska sample settles it faster than a screen will, and the quote is itemised so it can be read line by line by whoever is checking it. What the guarantees cover

“I used Karem’s services 5 years ago for purchasing and fitting the quartz worktop in my then brand new kitchen. The price was reasonable and the service reliable and spot on, no delays in fitting, misunderstanding or excuses. I recommended him to a friend, who also used his services and they were happy too! If I need to order new kitchen work top again,…”

“Absolutely delighted with our new worktop from Worktop WorX. The Capri White finish looks incredible, clean, modern, and really brightens up the whole kitchen while pairing beautifully with the darker cabinetry. The quality of the worktop is outstanding, with a flawless finish and seamless installation that really shows the attention to detail. It’s not…”

“Kareem did the countertops dur8ng my kitchen remodel, and I was so impressed that I had him back to do the laundry room as well, which tells you everything you need to know. He is an absolute gem. Shows up when he says he will (which, let’s be honest, is rarer than it should be), does beautifully work, and clearly takes real pride in what he does. The…”

Quartz

Why you would choose quartz

Quartz is the default for a busy family kitchen: it is engineered, non-porous, needs no sealing and looks the same slab to slab, so a big run stays consistent.

Most of what we fit is 20mm or 30mm. Where you want a chunkier look, we mitre the edge (a 20mm slab folded down to give a 40mm or 60mm apron), which reads as solid stone without the weight or cost of a genuinely thick slab.

About quartz

QUARTZ benefits

Non-porous

Nothing soaks in, so wine, oil and coffee wipe off.

Never needs sealing

No sealant schedule, ever.

Consistent slab to slab

Manufactured, so a second slab matches the first.

Use a trivet

The resin can scorch, so hot pans go on a stand.
