Beam Park kitchens
The kitchens we meet in Beam Park
Splashback and upstand work in Beam Park lives or dies on the awkward detail nobody mentions on the phone, and that detail is almost always something about the room. New development on former Ford-related land straddling the Havering boundary, so kitchens are almost all developer-fitted open-plan runs in apartments and townhouses, one wall, 2.4-3.2m, integrated appliances, no island except in the wider houses. Upgrades to stone happen early here, often within a couple of years of moving in, with the units left completely untouched. We measure the kitchen you have, not the kitchen the plans said you would have. Those two part company often.
Plasterboard partitions mean light scribes and clean joins, and the fabrication effort moves to the visible faces instead. Splashbacks come off the same slab run as the tops, which means the decision has to be made before fabrication starts. Sockets cut in the shop, not on site.
Block and beam floors with blockwork walls are true enough that the scribes are light and the joins can be pulled tight. Where the run passes a boxed stack the panel breaks into returns, and each return gets a mitred external corner. The wall gets made good first or the gap shows.
The mix here is 2010s-2020s apartment block, new-build townhouse and adjacent post-war housing. Two of those can sit on the same street and quote a long way apart.
