Grooves and an undermounted bowl are usually specified together, since the grooves are run to the bowl edge. Quartz carries resin, so a hot pan wants a trivet, while granite and sintered stone will take one without complaint. Quartz and sintered stone never need sealing: quartz is non-porous and sintered stone has effectively zero porosity. The goods lift is generous and the flat entrance often is not, so the tightest point on the route is inside the flat rather than in the building. These read as easy from outside and rarely are, because the flat entrance is tighter than the goods lift. A structure this old is worked with, not corrected.

A join is glued and clamped flush on the day, so it is fixed rather than something to be undone. Join count is a question about slab size and run length, nothing else. An island often runs in one piece where a wall run cannot. On a heavily veined stone the island and the run behind it are nested off the same area of slab so the movement relates across the room. A layout that has been packed and levelled run by run instead of to one datum shows as a step where two pieces meet. Nothing is cut on site if the bench can do it.

A full-height piece behind the hob has to allow for the extractor, so that gets settled first. It is quoted by area like the worktop, so a long run is a material line rather than a trim. Ordered later from a different batch, the match is not reliable where the two pieces meet. Poured screed over steel decking can fall away across a long run, so level is checked across the whole room before anything is packed. The full route is walked with a tape before anything is unloaded, including the turn at the flat door. The tops go on level even when nothing else is.
