Worktop installation in Gunnersbury
Fitting day: protected route, back edges scribed to the real wall line, joins pulled flush, sink and hob sealed.
Gunnersbury kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
This is a logistics job before it is a stone job, and the lift car is usually the single biggest constraint on the design. Almost everything that makes a fitting day hard is a property of the building rather than of the stone. One visit, our own installers.
Mostly flats. Compact L-shapes of 2.4m to 3m with integrated appliances and a peninsula at best, plus older purpose-built blocks where the kitchen is still the original service room with a pantry recess.
New-build carcasses here are 18mm with 20mm tops and no oversail to play with, and the lift car dimension sets your maximum piece length before the design does.
Inter-war purpose-built blocks have curved external walls and steel windows, so a run along an outside wall is following a genuine curve rather than a bow. The porter has to be booked, the goods lift protected with the block's own blankets or our own boards, and communal carpet and stair runners covered from the entrance to the flat door before a single piece moves. Walked, measured, protected, then lifted.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to Victorian terrace, 1930s purpose-built flat and 2010s-2020s station-side tower. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
True everywhere
Worktop installation, in short
- One visit. A straightforward run is a morning; an island and splashbacks take most of the day.
- Every piece is carried in by hand, and stone does not bend.
- We seat and seal the sink and hob. We do not connect water, waste, gas or electrics.
- Floors and units are protected before anything comes through the door.
Covered from the High Wycombe patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

Getting stone into the room
Delivery itself is easy with the Chiswick roundabout and North Circular right there, but the newer blocks mean booked service lifts, a timed loading bay and security sign-in before you touch anything.
The lift has to be booked and blanketed before anything moves, and that booking needs to cover the old tops coming out as well as the new stone going in. We walk the route with a tape and protect it end to end before the first piece is lifted. That is what the morning is planned around.

The building, and what it does to the job
The block's permitted works hours and the booked goods lift slot, which set a hard stop on the day whatever stage we are at.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop installation in Gunnersbury
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you actually work in Gunnersbury, or just list it?
Yes. Gunnersbury is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are W4, TW8. It is run from the High Wycombe side, covering Buckinghamshire & Berkshire. A dedicated loading bay or service yard is the easiest arrangement in a managed building, provided the slot is booked and someone has the key to the shutter. The fitting slot is set around it, which is why we ask about it when the date is booked and not before we leave the yard. We would rather ask than guess. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
What is different about worktop installation in Gunnersbury?
Balcony access and long communal corridors are often the carry route, and both are narrower than they look with a piece on edge. The porter has to be booked, the goods lift protected with the block's own blankets or our own boards, and communal carpet and stair runners covered from the entrance to the flat door before a single piece moves. That is the shape of the day. New-build carcasses here are 18mm with 20mm tops and no oversail to play with, and the lift car dimension sets your maximum piece length before the design does.
Is access a problem in Gunnersbury?
Delivery itself is easy with the Chiswick roundabout and North Circular right there, but the newer blocks mean booked service lifts, a timed loading bay and security sign-in before you touch anything. Where the lift will not take the longest run we design a join in rather than gamble, because a piece that will not go up has to go back on the van. We walk the route with a tape and protect it end to end before the first piece is lifted. That is what the morning is planned around. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Do you do much worktop installation around Gunnersbury?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop replacement. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Quartz suits let property well: no sealing, no annual maintenance, and nothing an incoming tenant has to be told to look after. Where the window is fixed there is no second day to fall back on, so the prep list matters more than usual. One visit, done properly. Where kitchens turn over between tenancies the priority is a surface that survives a decade of being treated as a chopping board. The fitting day is scheduled to suit that rather than to suit the diary. One visit, done properly.
What decides the price of a worktop in Gunnersbury?
Where the return runs into a wall that is out of square, the corner is templated as the angle it really is rather than as ninety degrees. A layout that has been packed and levelled run by run instead of to one datum shows as a step where two pieces meet. Nothing is bonded until the whole run sits flat. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What do I need to sort out first?
A chimney breast left in place splits a wall into two alcoves, and the two are rarely the same width and rarely parallel to each other. Rushing that is what leaves a gap you look at every morning for fifteen years. Dry-lay, mark, cut, then bond. Have the works booking confirmed with the managing agent or porter in advance, with the lift slot and any parking permit or bay suspension in place. Where ownership is split across a building, the common parts belong to someone else and the carry route is negotiated rather than assumed. The fitting day is arranged with whoever can actually give us access for the whole slot. Access for the whole slot, or a different day.
