Worktop fabrication in Ruxley
Your slab nested, cut to the template drawing, mitred, machined and dry-assembled on the bench before anything is loaded.
Ruxley kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Units are often only 500mm deep, so a standard 600mm stone top overhangs at the front and the doors need checking against it. The workshop works to the template drawing and to the measured route, in that order. Proven on the bench, then loaded.
Postwar detached houses and bungalows on the green-belt edge with square kitchens and a utility off the side; runs are 3m to 3.5m with a peninsula, and single-storey bungalow extensions are the common project.
Bungalow extension work here usually has a flat roof and rooflight over the run, so check headroom before quoting tall units and upstands.
Base units from the seventies and eighties are often only 500mm deep, so a 600mm stone top overhangs at the front and the doors want checking against it. On a short run the stone left between the sink and hob cut-outs is what decides whether it can be cut in one. Settled on the drawing, cut once.
What turns up on the job sheets is postwar detached, 1960s-70s estate housing and green-belt edge bungalow. The differences between them show up at template, not at enquiry.
True everywhere
Worktop fabrication, in short
- Slabs come in finite sizes, so a long run needs a join.
- Joins sit over a cabinet gable, never spanning a gap or running through a cut-out.
- A finished join is typically 2–3mm, colour-matched and sanded flush.
- Your sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch.
Covered from the New Malden patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

What gets asked for here
This is not the local speciality and there is no point saying otherwise: worktop installation, worktop design & quotation and worktop templating is what the housing here actually asks for. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way regardless.

Getting stone into the room
Fast main-road frontages on the bypass side, but the houses themselves have drives and generous frontages with no parking restrictions to speak of.

The building, and what it does to the job
Sill height gets settled with the template on site, because it is one of the few dimensions nobody has measured before we arrive. Cut it square where it should be radiused and the piece will fail on the lift, not in the kitchen. Radiused, polished, and clear of the joins.

True everywhere, stated once
Fabrication is where access quietly becomes a design decision. How the stone reaches the room decides how big each piece can be, and therefore how many joins the kitchen ends up with.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop fabrication in Ruxley
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Ruxley?
Yes. Ruxley is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are DA14. It is run from the New Malden side, covering South West London & Surrey. Off-street parking means the van stays put all day, so tools, packers and the offcut we would rather have than not are all within reach. It rarely changes what we cut, but it does change how the pieces are stacked and strapped for the run out. The load plan follows from it. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Ruxley change how worktop fabrication works?
Base units from the seventies and eighties are often only 500mm deep, so a 600mm stone top overhangs at the front and the doors want checking against it. These have a back door straight into the kitchen so getting pieces in is rarely the issue, but the room is small and the runs are short, which puts the sink, hob and tap cut-outs close together on a single length of stone. Every join over a gable, clear of every cut-out. Bungalow extension work here usually has a flat roof and rooflight over the run, so check headroom before quoting tall units and upstands.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Ruxley?
Fast main-road frontages on the bypass side, but the houses themselves have drives and generous frontages with no parking restrictions to speak of. Even an easy kerbside carry wants the pavement clear at the tail lift, because a three-metre piece on edge has a swing radius nobody expects until it is swinging. Getting that wrong leaves a finished, machined piece that cannot reach the room, which is a remake rather than a trim. Once the cut-outs are machined there is no going back on it. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Is Ruxley really a worktop fabrication area?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop installation, worktop design & quotation and worktop templating. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. A new extension slab is not automatically level, and that wants checking before templating rather than after the stone is cut. Cutting several kitchens from different slabs and calling them matched is where firms get caught out. Proven on the bench before dispatch. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. Same slab run, or it is not a match.
Why do two Ruxley kitchens the same size price differently?
Peninsulas frequently land on a lightweight partition or on units that were never fixed down, and stone needs proper support under it before it goes on. A join that lands in the wrong place cannot be moved once the cut-outs are machined, so it is settled on the drawing. Every join sits over a gable. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
Where a run finishes into a reveal, the depth of that reveal is taken at worktop height and nowhere else. The template drawing carries the real geometry through to the saw, and the piece is machined to it rather than trimmed to it later. The drawing decides it, not the fitter. Final appliance positions and the actual sink and hob need to be settled before machining, because on a run this short a few centimetres of movement decides whether the piece can be cut in one. Where a landlord or housing provider is involved there is a specification to meet and a process to follow, and both are settled before a date is offered. The workshop works from the approved drawing, so whoever signs it off is signing off the join positions too. Dry-assembled before it leaves.
