Kitchen worktops in Bromley Town Centre
Two different jobs sit side by side here. The new blocks around Bromley South and Ringers Road have small L-shaped or galley kitchens open to the living space, usually 2.4-3.2m of run with a developer-spec laminate that owners swap out early. The Victorian terraces off the main roads are mostly side-return extensions with a single long run against the flank wall and a peninsula rather than a full island.

What we are usually working with in Bromley Town Centre

Flats mean loading bays with time limits, a goods lift booking and a building manager to clear it with, and no chance of leaving the van on the High Street. Half the work is measuring twice for lift dimensions before we cut, because a 3m piece will not go into a lot of these blocks in one length and a joint has to be designed in from the start.
The terraces have no off-street parking and a controlled parking zone, so slabs come off the van at the kerb and go through the house rather than round the side.
The mix here is Victorian terrace, 1930s semi, 2010s apartment block and office-to-residential conversion. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
A hundred and forty years of alterations sit under the current kitchen, and the worktop is what has to sit flat on top of all of it. Splashbacks come off the same slab run as the tops, which means the decision has to be made before fabrication starts. The wall decides, not the brochure.
The addition wall is half a brick thick in places and has usually had a damp course injected and been re-plastered, which leaves it neither flat nor consistent. What the old top has been hiding is usually a floor that settled towards the back and units that were never fixed back to the wall. What is under the old top is the real question.
The chimney breast in the corner has usually been left in place, so the run gains a return and two scribed ends. These kitchens are nearly always retiled at least twice, and stripping the old tiles takes the bottom course of plaster with it because the original laminate top ran underneath the tiles rather than up to them. Cut from the same slab run as the tops.
The lift has to be booked and blanketed before anything moves, and that booking needs to cover the old tops coming out as well as the new stone going in. We plan the strip-out and the carry as one movement so the kitchen is only out of use for a single day. The strip-out is planned around it.

Questions
Working in Bromley Town Centre
Do you fit kitchen worktops in Bromley Town Centre?
Yes. A controlled parking zone means either a visitor permit sorted in advance or a suspended bay, and a suspension is applied for days ahead rather than on the morning. Waste is the part people forget: the old laminate or tired granite has to be walked back to the van and it does not get lighter. Old tops out and new stone in, both through the same gap.
What kind of kitchens do you usually work on in Bromley Town Centre?
Victorian terrace, 1930s semi, 2010s apartment block and office-to-residential conversion. Where the side return has been filled in, the old external wall is now an internal one and still carries its render, its gutter line and its old fixings. In most Victorian terraces the kitchen sits in the back addition, so you get a narrow galley with one outside wall and nothing square to work off. Units kept, surface changed, one day.
Is access difficult in Bromley Town Centre?
Flats mean loading bays with time limits, a goods lift booking and a building manager to clear it with, and no chance of leaving the van on the High Street. The terraces have no off-street parking and a controlled parking zone, so slabs come off the van at the kerb and go through the house rather than round the side. Where the lift will not take the longest run we design a join in rather than gamble, because a piece that will not go up has to go back on the van. Worth remembering that the old tops have to come out the way the new ones come in, and a laminate run is easier to remove in one length than to carry in one. It sets what the day actually looks like.
What do you get asked for most in Bromley Town Centre?
Worktop replacement, worktop templating and worktop splashbacks & upstands, in that order. Handover-spec kitchens are square, plumb and predictable, which means the join count is honest and driven by run length rather than by the building. The units stay and only the surface changes, so the whole job is one day rather than a kitchen refit. A day, not a project. Half the work is measuring twice for lift dimensions before we cut, because a 3m piece will not go into a lot of these blocks in one length and a joint has to be designed in from the start.
What decides the price of a worktop in Bromley Town Centre?
A galley puts the sink on one side and the hob on the other, which spreads the cut-outs across two pieces instead of weakening one. Long runs almost never take a single panel, so the joint positions want agreeing before anything is templated. Joint placement is a decision, not an accident. A run can measure dead right at both ends and still belly out in the middle, which only appears once the template plots the intermediate points. The template plots it as it is, at the exact height the worktop will sit, and the drawing carries that through. Measured at worktop height, nowhere else. Material runs from £110 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines rather than rolled into one figure.
Do you work in flats and leasehold properties in Bromley Town Centre?
The householder is normally on site at template, and that is the right time to settle sink position, tap centres and overhang rather than agree them by email. A replacement keeps the units and changes the surface, which is the least disruptive way to do this in an occupied property. Units kept, surface changed. Tell us the building when you book and the lift, the stair turn and any freeholder notice get built into the day rather than found on it.
