Cubitt Town kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
The room is square, the walls are plumb and the floor is flat, so almost every complication in the job belongs to the building rather than the kitchen. Pieces are cut, mitred, machined and dry-assembled on the bench before anything is loaded onto a van. The drawing decides it before the saw does.
Family houses here have a ground-floor kitchen at the rear with a garden door, usually a U or L of 3m to 4m total run, and a fair number have been extended sideways for a small island. Riverside apartments have compact kitchens with the run interrupted by a balcony door.
Riverside blocks are the exception, with gated courtyards and lifts sized for furniture rather than 3m slabs. Houses here allow a single-piece run straight through the front door, which is worth taking advantage of instead of defaulting to a joint.
A riverside block is a managed building with a booked goods lift, a loading bay and a concierge, and all three have to line up on the same day. Piece size is set by the lift car, not by the slab. Settled on the drawing, cut once.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to 1980s-90s riverside terrace and townhouse, post-war estate and recent riverside apartment. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
True everywhere
Worktop fabrication, in short
- Slabs come in finite sizes, so a long run needs a join.
- Joins sit over a cabinet gable, never spanning a gap or running through a cut-out.
- A finished join is typically 2–3mm, colour-matched and sanded flush.
- Your sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch.
Covered on our east London run. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

What gets asked for here
The research on this patch does not put this among the three commonest jobs. Worktop installation, worktop templating and worktop design & quotation do. That changes how often we are here, not how the work is done.

Getting stone into the room
This is the easiest part of the peninsula for a van, with off-street parking and driveways on many of the 1980s houses and level access to the front door.
Door width, hall width and the diagonal at the turn are three separate measurements, and it is the diagonal that catches people out. Getting that wrong leaves a finished, machined piece that cannot reach the room, which is a remake rather than a trim. The drawing carries that decision through to the saw.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop fabrication in Cubitt Town
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Is Cubitt Town on your patch?
Yes. Cubitt Town is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are E14. It is worked on our east London run, along with the rest of Tower Hamlets. Off-street parking means the van stays put all day, so tools, packers and the offcut we would rather have than not are all within reach. It rarely changes what we cut, but it does change how the pieces are stacked and strapped for the run out. It is decided in the yard, not at the kerb. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Why would worktop fabrication in Cubitt Town be any different from anywhere else?
A riverside block is a managed building with a booked goods lift, a loading bay and a concierge, and all three have to line up on the same day. The lift diagonal governs the longest piece, so the join count is fixed at nesting and cannot be revisited on the day. The bench proves it before the van moves. Houses here allow a single-piece run straight through the front door, which is worth taking advantage of instead of defaulting to a joint.
How would you get a worktop into a property in Cubitt Town?
This is the easiest part of the peninsula for a van, with off-street parking and driveways on many of the 1980s houses and level access to the front door. Riverside blocks are the exception, with gated courtyards and lifts sized for furniture rather than 3m slabs. Door width, hall width and the diagonal at the turn are three separate measurements, and it is the diagonal that catches people out. Getting that wrong leaves a finished, machined piece that cannot reach the room, which is a remake rather than a trim. The drawing carries that decision through to the saw.
Do you get much worktop fabrication work in Cubitt Town?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop installation, worktop templating and worktop design & quotation. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. The junction between the original room and the extension is the point to watch, because the two floors rarely sit at the same height. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. Proven on the bench before dispatch. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. Pieces are dry-assembled and checked on the bench before anything is loaded. Nested for the job in front of us.
What moves the number on a quote around here?
An island is a single visible piece with four finished edges and no wall to hide against, so it is the piece the whole kitchen is judged on. Pieces are dry-assembled on the bench before dispatch so the corners are known to close before they leave the workshop. Every join sits over a gable. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What needs to be ready before you come to Cubitt Town?
Taped internal angles in plasterboard belly at the corner, so the run picks up a few millimetres over the last 300mm and a plan-angle mitre will not close. Internal corners are machined with a radius and polished, and kept well clear of any join or cut-out. Radiused, polished, and clear of the joins. Sink, tap and hob need to be with us before machining, along with confirmation of whether the island is getting a breakfast overhang, since anything past roughly 300mm unsupported needs steel let into the carcasses and that has to be built in, not added later. An owner living in the house makes the decisions and lives with them, so the specification tends to go towards the material rather than towards the lowest total. Sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch, whoever supplied them. Dry-assembled before it leaves.
