Quartz and sintered stone never need sealing: quartz is non-porous and sintered stone has effectively zero porosity. Bleach and limescale remover harm a polished finish rather than clean it, whichever material is on the units. Quartz carries resin, so a hot pan wants a trivet, while granite and sintered stone will take one without complaint. These flats have been reconfigured more than once, so the kitchen often sits in what was a bedroom with services run a long way to reach it. Patched plaster next to original render sits at different depths, and that step is exactly what an upstand covers. The age of the plaster decides the fixing, not the finish.
