Yes. Fulham is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are SW6. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Hammersmith and Fulham. A controlled parking zone means either a visitor permit sorted in advance or a suspended bay, and a suspension is applied for days ahead rather than on the morning. It rarely changes what we cut, but it does change how the pieces are stacked and strapped for the run out. The load plan follows from it. The back addition is a narrow two-storey outrigger with a single external wall, and the kitchen galley runs the length of it. Pieces are sized to the tightest turn on the route before anything is nested to the slab. Settled on the drawing, cut once. Take the kitchen door and its stops off first - a 760mm opening will not pass a 900mm island top and people always find that out at the worst moment.

Uniform terraced grid with CPZ permit bays, so the van goes on a suspension or a short loading window and the trolley run is 15-30m. Front paths have a step and a gate, halls are around 1m wide with the stair on one side, and the kitchen sits at the far end past a doorway that is often only 760mm - the door leaf and stops come off before anything moves. A walk-up with winders at every half-landing means the piece is rested and re-gripped on the way, so the crew size goes up before the piece size comes down. So the nesting is worked to the measured route first and to the slab second. The drawing carries that decision through to the saw.

It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop templating. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. Proven on the bench before dispatch. Rear and side-return extensions are where the islands appear, and an island is the piece that decides whether one slab does the kitchen or two. Cutting several kitchens from different slabs and calling them matched is where firms get caught out. Same slab run, or it is not a match.

A galley run down a side-return extension usually measures longer than a slab will give in one length, so a join is designed in from the start rather than discovered. The nest is laid out around that, with joins placed over cabinet gables and kept clear of every cut-out. That is nested before any glass goes on the saw. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.

Floors settle, and once base units are packed and levelled properly the stone sits true while everything else in the room admits it is not. Cut it square where it should be radiused and the piece will fail on the lift, not in the kitchen. The drawing decides it, not the fitter. The sink and hob need to be on site and the run layout fixed before we start cutting, because moving a hob after the join position is set means recutting the whole piece. An owner living in the house makes the decisions and lives with them, so the specification tends to go towards the material rather than towards the lowest total. Sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch, whoever supplied them. The approved drawing is the instruction.
