Greenford kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Two runs and a return into a rear extension is the pattern, and the return is the piece that never nests neatly on a slab. Pieces are cut, mitred, machined and dry-assembled on the bench before anything is loaded onto a van. The drawing decides it before the saw does.
1930s semis with the original kitchen and larder opened into the dining room, giving a 4m to 5m L with a peninsula, and the attached garage frequently converted into a utility with a matching short run.
Western Avenue makes delivery easy and the residential roads are wide with drives. The Greenford roundabout and Ruislip Road are the congestion points. The gas run and meter box sit on the kitchen flank wall in these semis, so the units get packed off the wall and the top has to be templated to that packed line.
A side alley and a back door mean most pieces go in whole, and it is the alley width rather than the front door that decides it. What does drive the bench work is the knocked-through kitchen-diner: the return worktop and any peninsula are seen end-on from the dining side, so we nest the pieces so the veining carries across the internal corner in the same direction rather than turning through ninety degrees. Every join over a gable, clear of every cut-out.
The mix here is 1930s Metroland semi, postwar estate house, 1960s block and industrial-fringe new-build. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
True everywhere
Worktop fabrication, in short
- Slabs come in finite sizes, so a long run needs a join.
- Joins sit over a cabinet gable, never spanning a gap or running through a cut-out.
- A finished join is typically 2–3mm, colour-matched and sanded flush.
- Your sink and hob are dry-fitted on the bench before dispatch.

What gets asked for here
This is not the local speciality and there is no point saying otherwise: worktop replacement, worktop installation and worktop templating is what the housing here actually asks for. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way regardless.

The shape of the run
Two parallel runs with a walkway between them is the most efficient shape there is on a slab, because both pieces nest as straight lengths with almost no waste. Pieces are dry-assembled on the bench before dispatch so the corners are known to close before they leave the workshop. That is nested before any glass goes on the saw.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop fabrication in Greenford
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you cover Greenford?
Yes. Greenford is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are UB6. It is worked on our west London run, along with the rest of Ealing. Off-street parking means the van stays put all day, so tools, packers and the offcut we would rather have than not are all within reach. It rarely changes what we cut, but it does change how the pieces are stacked and strapped for the run out. It is decided in the yard, not at the kerb. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
Does the housing in Greenford change how worktop fabrication works?
A side alley and a back door mean most pieces go in whole, and it is the alley width rather than the front door that decides it. What does drive the bench work is the knocked-through kitchen-diner: the return worktop and any peninsula are seen end-on from the dining side, so we nest the pieces so the veining carries across the internal corner in the same direction rather than turning through ninety degrees. Every join over a gable, clear of every cut-out. The gas run and meter box sit on the kitchen flank wall in these semis, so the units get packed off the wall and the top has to be templated to that packed line.
How does the stone actually reach a kitchen in Greenford?
Western Avenue makes delivery easy and the residential roads are wide with drives. The Greenford roundabout and Ruislip Road are the congestion points. The van gets close to the door and the stone comes off the tail lift onto a trolley, which is about the shortest carry we ever get. Getting that wrong leaves a finished, machined piece that cannot reach the room, which is a remake rather than a trim. The drawing carries that decision through to the saw.
Do you get much worktop fabrication work in Greenford?
Not particularly, and it would be easy to pretend otherwise. What the research on this patch actually lists is worktop replacement, worktop installation and worktop templating. That is a statement about the local housing rather than about the work. It is quoted, cut and fitted exactly the same way here as anywhere else on the patch. The junction between the original room and the extension is the point to watch, because the two floors rarely sit at the same height. So the nesting is planned around it rather than around a standard kitchen. Nested for the job in front of us. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. Pieces are dry-assembled and checked on the bench before anything is loaded. Same slab run, or it is not a match.
Why do two Greenford kitchens the same size price differently?
Two parallel runs with a walkway between them is the most efficient shape there is on a slab, because both pieces nest as straight lengths with almost no waste. Pieces are dry-assembled on the bench before dispatch so the corners are known to close before they leave the workshop. That is nested before any glass goes on the saw. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What has to be finished before you can template?
A chimney breast left in place splits a wall into two alcoves, and the two are rarely the same width and rarely parallel to each other. The template drawing carries the real geometry through to the saw, and the piece is machined to it rather than trimmed to it later. Radiused, polished, and clear of the joins. The peninsula end detail needs deciding up front - square edge, mitred apron down the end, or a full waterfall - because a waterfall end has to be cut in sequence off the same part of the slab as the top. An owner living in the house makes the decisions and lives with them, so the specification tends to go towards the material rather than towards the lowest total. Changing an appliance after the nest is set means recutting the piece, not adjusting it. The approved drawing is the instruction.
