Worktop templating in Rainham
A digital template plotting the room as it really is, taken once your units are fitted, fixed and level.
Rainham kitchens
What the kitchens here are actually like
Wide doors, generous rooms and somewhere to park mean the joins that go in are the ones we choose, not the ones the building forces. Two to three hours on site with a laser, once the units are fitted, fixed and level. Units fitted, fixed and level first.
Three layers in one place: a small historic village centre where kitchens are constrained and period-sensitive, inter-war and post-war family housing where the job is opening the kitchen into the dining room, and new riverside developments where compact open-plan kitchens get an early upgrade from the developer's laminate. Run lengths in the new-build flats are short, typically 2.4-3m in an L.
On the new riverside schemes the units are already fitted and level, so a replacement top is quick — the delay is always getting through the estate access control. The older village streets are narrow with limited parking, while the new developments have allocated bays, controlled access and sometimes barriers that need a code arranged in advance.
A period cottage has low ceilings, thick rubble-filled walls and a floor that has never been level, and the worktop is the thing that has to look straight. One datum for the whole room, because a floor that falls end to end shows as a step between island and perimeter. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
On these streets the housing is Georgian and older village core, 1930s semi, post-war council house and 2010s-2020s riverside new-build. Each of those behaves differently once the old top comes off.
True everywhere
Worktop templating, in short
- Two to three hours on site for a typical kitchen.
- Units must be fitted, fixed and level first. No stone is ever cut from a plan.
- Sink, tap and hob must be physically on site, not just ordered.
- A Belfast or butler sink must be installed and at its final height.
Covered from the Essex patch. Fitted 3–7 working days from template.

Getting stone into the room
Off-street parking means the van stays put all day, so tools, packers and the offcut we would rather have than not are all within reach. The templating visit needs somewhere to stop for two or three hours, which is a different problem from unloading for twenty minutes. Two hours is the realistic figure.

What gets asked for here
It is on the shortlist for this patch rather than at the top of it, because worktop replacement comes up more often. Nothing about the process differs between the two.

Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it. Where the route is genuinely tight, it changes how the pieces are cut, which is a fabrication decision rather than a delivery one.

Questions
Worktop templating in Rainham
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Do you actually work in Rainham, or just list it?
Yes. Rainham is on the patch, and the postcodes we work here are RM13. It is run from the Essex side, covering Essex & East London. A drive that shelves towards the house needs the van chocked and the trolley controlled, since a loaded A-frame gathers speed quickly on a slope. A templater circling for a space arrives late into a slot that was already tight, and the drawing is what suffers. The templater needs a proper stop, not a pause. We template in your kitchen and fit in your kitchen, so there is nothing to visit and nothing to collect.
What is different about worktop templating in Rainham?
A period cottage has low ceilings, thick rubble-filled walls and a floor that has never been level, and the worktop is the thing that has to look straight. The island is templated for its overhang, its support and the position of the hob or sink within it, with sockets and any pop-up left where they will genuinely be. Two to three hours, once the units are in. On the new riverside schemes the units are already fitted and level, so a replacement top is quick — the delay is always getting through the estate access control.
Is access a problem in Rainham?
The older village streets are narrow with limited parking, while the new developments have allocated bays, controlled access and sometimes barriers that need a code arranged in advance. The barrier, the entry code and the estate rules decide when a van can get near the door, and none of that is negotiable on the day. Door widths, turn diagonals and any change of level are recorded on the drawing alongside the run dimensions. The laser records it along with everything else. Tell us what the approach looks like when you book the template and it gets built into the day rather than discovered on it.
Is worktop templating common in Rainham?
It is one of the three we do most here, behind worktop replacement. Same template visit, same workshop, same installers either way. Rear and side-return extensions are where the islands appear, and an island is the piece that decides whether one slab does the kitchen or two. The template visit is booked once the units are genuinely in, not when they are nearly in. Units fitted, fixed and level first. Extension kitchens are usually specified long before they are buildable, so the run lengths on the drawing and the run lengths in the room are different numbers. No stone is ever cut from a plan, which is inconvenient exactly when a programme is tight. The room as it is, not as it was drawn.
What decides the price of a worktop in Rainham?
Where the return runs into a wall that is out of square, the corner is templated as the angle it really is rather than as ninety degrees. Join positions and vein direction are marked on the template drawing before it leaves site. Real angles, not plan angles. Material is £110-£550 per square metre supply only, and templating, fabrication and fitting are quoted on their own lines.
What do I need to sort out first?
A chimney breast left in place splits a wall into two alcoves, and the two are rarely the same width and rarely parallel to each other. It is recorded on the drawing with the run dimensions so the workshop is not guessing. Measured at worktop height, nowhere else. All runs and the island carcass fixed down and levelled to one datum, with the sink, tap and hob on site - an island cannot be templated while it is still loose or sitting on packers. Mixed ownership means the decision-maker is not always the person who lets us in, so it is worth being clear early about who signs the quote off. The templater needs the sink, tap and hob on site, and a Belfast sink installed at its final height. Appliances on site, not on order.
