Stockwell kitchens
The kitchens we meet in Stockwell
Nearly all the splashback jobs we quote in Stockwell start with the same conversation about what is already in the kitchen and what is staying. The conservation-area villas have deep plans where kitchens go into the rear at ground or lower-ground level with a run plus a freestanding block, while the surrounding estates have standardised flat kitchens with a fixed sink and a boxed riser. Many villas are subdivided, so a single building can hold three different kitchen sizes. The point of the visit is that you stop guessing and get a number you can hold us to.
Where the walls have been dry-lined over the old lath there is a void behind the board and no solid fixing until a batten is found. Height is set off the units and the hob, not off the tile line that was there before. Full height needs a flat wall and a finished electrician.
A basement is often reached by its own door under the front steps, and that door is smaller than anything else on the route. Where an upstand meets a window reveal the return is mitred rather than butted, so the joint does not open as the wall moves. A bowed wall is what decides between an upstand and a panel.
The stock we template in here is Georgian and early Victorian villa, Victorian terrace, Large postwar estate and Interwar block. The one you have sets the piece length before the kitchen does.
