The housing stock
What we are usually working with in Hook
A passive vent or a ducted extract shaft takes a corner of the kitchen from floor to ceiling and cannot be reduced. A run that has to be scribed twice takes an hour longer than one that does not, and the day is costed with that hour in it. A settled floor adds an hour and the day allows for it.
An ex-council house is solidly built to a standard plan, with the kitchen at the rear and a back door next to it. Carcass heights are corrected on the day where legs have bottomed out, because a top will not bridge a step between units. What the building will take decides how it is fixed.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to 1930s semi, 1950s council-built semi, 1960s terrace and modern infill. Which of those you have decides most of what follows.
Access. Quiet estate roads off the Hook Rise corridor with driveways and garages, and enough width to turn a van; the main hold-up is the A3 junction traffic rather than anything on site.
There is nothing to visit in Hook. Samples are posted free, the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there too.
