Tell us the piece and where it goes
A sketch, a photograph of the space or a list of sizes is enough to start. Say whether it is inside or outside, what it rests on or fixes to, and whether it should match a worktop you already have.

Beyond the kitchen, the same quartz, granite and sintered stone becomes table tops, bar tops, windowsills, doorsteps, stairs, shelves, chopping boards and coasters, each one cut, profiled and polished in our own workshop to your measurements. Larger pieces are priced by the square metre from £110/m² (stone only); small ones are priced as a piece on the quote.
What we make
Each piece has its own page: which stone suits it, how it is measured, what it needs around it and what it costs to make.

A kitchen worktop is one thing a slab of stone can become. The machines that cut a hob aperture and polish a worktop edge will cut a table top, a stair tread, a shelf or a set of coasters just as accurately, and the stone does not know which room it is going to.
What changes from piece to piece is what it has to do. A stair tread is walked on and needs a nosing and a surface that is not slippery. A doorstep sits outside, which rules some stone out before colour is discussed. A shelf is a cantilever with its fixings hidden. A chopping board is a hard surface that knives lose to. Each product page below covers its own piece in that detail.
Many of these pieces can come out of the offcut of your own worktop, so a shelf, a board or a set of coasters matches the kitchen exactly. That only works if you ask before the job, while the offcut is still yours and before it goes back into the racks.
Fitted 5–10 working days from template. The payment stages are set out on your quote.
Choosing the stone
Supply rates are read from our catalogue and cover the stone only. Cutting, edges, polishing and fitting are quoted as their own lines, and a small piece is priced as a piece.
| Material | Colours | Supply from | Beyond the kitchen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quartz | 69 | £130/m² | Indoor pieces: shelves, table tops, boards, coasters and internal sills. No sealing and the widest colour range. It contains resin, so it is not one for outside or for direct sun. |
| Granite | 45 | £121/m² | The natural stone, and the traditional choice for a step or threshold. Tolerates heat, so it suits a hot-pan board. Porous, so it is sealed before use and resealed periodically. |
| Dekton | 63 | £110/m² | Pieces that face the weather, sun or hard wear, inside or out. No sealing. Brittle where unsupported and hard on cutting tools, so thin or long pieces need support thought through. |
| Sintered stone | 8 | £280/m² | Our own sintered stone range. No sealing, stable in sun and copes with acidic spills better than quartz, which suits a bar or table top as well as an outdoor piece. |
Free samples are posted from the Worktop Worx quartz collection, up to four at a time. Other quartz, granite and sintered stone are judged from the slab.
How a piece is made
The order is the same for a set of coasters as for a staircase. What changes is whether we measure it or you do.
A sketch, a photograph of the space or a list of sizes is enough to start. Say whether it is inside or outside, what it rests on or fixes to, and whether it should match a worktop you already have.
Either a colour from our range or the offcut of your own worktop, if it is still with us and large enough. The material is chosen for what the piece has to do before the colour is, because a step outside and a shelf inside want different stone.
A loose piece, such as a chopping board or a set of coasters, is made to the dimensions you give us. A fitted piece, such as a stair, a sill, a shelf or a doorstep, is templated on site once whatever it sits on is built and fixed.
Every piece is cut in our own workshop, its edges profiled and polished on every face that will show. Curves and rounds are cut on the CNC from the drawing rather than by hand.
Fitted pieces are fitted by our own team. How loose pieces reach you is arranged on the quote.
The parts that decide it
The cutting is the same. These are the questions that are not.
Quartz contains resin and is not one for outside or for direct sun. Granite is the traditional external stone and sintered stone copes with weather and sun. If a piece is going outside, say so at quotation and we will tell you plainly whether it is a job we can take on.
A table top sits on a base, a tread on a stair, a shelf on hidden fixings, a sill on a reveal. Whatever carries the stone has to be built, fixed and level before it is templated, and building it is not our work.
A worktop hides its back edge against a wall. A table, a shelf, a board or a coaster shows every edge, so every edge is profiled and polished, and the profile is chosen for the hand or foot that meets it.
The leftover from a kitchen is often big enough for a shelf, a sill, a board or a set of coasters in exactly the same stone. Ask before the job is cut. Once an offcut has gone back into the racks or been broken down, it is not coming back.
Ordered with the worktop, a piece comes from the same slab run. Ordered later, engineered stone may have changed batch and granite will be a different slab, so expect a close relative rather than a twin.
In a home, the stone carries our 25-year material warranty, which is written for residential installations. In a business, the stone is covered by the maker's commercial warranty instead, and our 5-year workmanship guarantee covers the fitting either way. Which applies is stated on your quote.
Before we cut
Most of the first list is about the thing the stone sits on or fixes to, because the stone cannot fix any of it.
Questions
If yours is not here, ring and ask. You will get a straight answer rather than a call-back from a salesperson.
Table tops, bar tops, internal windowsills, doorsteps, stairs, chopping boards, coasters, shelves and reception counters, in quartz, granite, Dekton and other sintered stone. If what you have in mind is not on that list, describe it when you ask for a quote and we will say whether it is something we can make.
Often, yes, as long as you ask before the kitchen is cut. A piece large enough for a shelf, a sill, a chopping board or a set of coasters can usually be nested out of what is left. Once the offcut has gone back into the racks or been broken down, it is gone.
Larger pieces are priced like a worktop, by the square metre, from £110 to £550 across the surfaces we hold, stone only. A shelf 0.9m long and 0.25m deep is 0.23m², so at the quartz entry rate of £130/m² the stone is about £30. Cutting, edges, polishing and fitting are quoted as their own lines, and small loose pieces such as boards and coasters are priced as a piece.
For a loose piece, your sizes are enough: a board, a set of coasters or a table top for a base you already own. For anything fitted into the building, such as stairs, a sill, a shelf or a doorstep, we template on site once whatever it sits on is built, because a room is never quite the drawing.
Some can, in the right stone. Quartz cannot: it contains resin and is not one for outside or direct sun. Granite and sintered stone are the families to look at. Say so at quotation if the piece is going outside, and we will tell you plainly whether it is a job we can take on.
Ordered with the worktop, it comes from the same slab run and matches. Ordered later, engineered stone may have changed batch and granite will be a different slab, so expect a close relative rather than a twin. Where the two are in different rooms that is usually fine.
Where we work
We template and fit across Greater London and out into Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. The stone is cut in our workshop and fitted by our own installers, wherever the job is.

Next
Every job runs through more than one of these. Follow the thread rather than guessing which order things go in.
Every tread templated on its own, with a nosing and a finish you can walk on.
Floating and bracketed shelves, matched to your worktop or cut on their own.
Boards cut from your worktop offcut or a colour from our range.
Not sure where you are in the process?
Worth reading
The questions that come up most, answered in full rather than in a sentence.
The best stone for an internal window sill is usually the one your worktop is made of, cut from the same batch at the same template visit. Quartz suits most kitchens and bathrooms, granite suits a sill you will seal, and a notched sill sits neatly inside the reveal.
