The housing stock
What we are usually working with in Hanworth
A side passage and a back door mean the stone rarely has to come through the house, which changes the job more than most people expect. Cutting sockets and switch plates into stone is a workshop operation, so the electrics have to be final before the template. The flatter the wall, the taller the stone.
That back-door-in-the-corner layout means most tops end in a cut return under 600mm, so you make a lot of small pieces rather than one long one.
The back door frequently opens straight into the kitchen, which is the best carry route in the house and the one people forget to mention. Where a full-height panel is wanted, the wall is made good first or the panel rocks on the high spots. Cut from the same slab run as the tops.
The housing behind these kitchens is 1930s semi, postwar estate house, Butts Farm estate and cottage stock near the park. They are not interchangeable, and a worktop finds the differences quickly.
Access. Quiet residential estates with generous driveways and grass verges and no parking restrictions worth mentioning. The narrow cul-de-sac turning heads are the only issue.
There is nothing to visit in Hanworth. Samples are posted free, the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there too.
