The housing stock
What we are usually working with in Regent's Park
An under-stairs cupboard eats one end of most of these kitchens, and the run stops at a door that has to keep opening. A run that has to be scribed twice takes an hour longer than one that does not, and the day is costed with that hour in it. Door fronts and stone edges get checked against each other first.
In the Nash terraces you are working under listed consent against vaulted, uneven basement walls where nothing is square, so template on site and expect a scribe on every back edge. The Outer Circle has strict waiting restrictions and no loading in front of the terraces, so access to the listed houses is by an area stair or a rear service entrance.
The closet wing is a narrow projection at the back with windows on two sides, which leaves very little continuous wall for a run. Scribing takes longer than the carry does, so the quiet half of the day is the half that runs over. What the building will take decides how it is fixed.
The stock behind these kitchens runs to Nash stucco terrace, Regency villa, post-war estate and mansion block. The one you have sets the piece length before the kitchen does.
Access. The post-war estate has its own internal roads and lifts, which is a completely different set of rules on the same day.
There is nothing to visit in Regent's Park. Samples are posted free, the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there too.
