Is it right for you

What Sahara Stone suits

Supply only, Sahara Stone runs £280 per square metre. That is 45th out of the 71 sintered stone surfaces on the list. That is £19 above the £261 median for the family, so it is a dearer choice within its own material rather than across the catalogue. The next sintered stone up in price is Daze at £300.

There is no sealer and no annual job, and the warmth will not yellow or fade with sunlight the way some materials do. It looks the same in year ten as it did on the day it went in.

Sahara Stone costs £170 more than the cheapest sintered stone we fit and £86 less than the dearest. 8 other surfaces share the £280 rate: 3 quartz and 5 Karexa sintered stone. Within its own gold group Sahara Stone is the 1st cheapest of 3.

2 other sintered stone surfaces share its gold tone, Reverie at £300 and Awake at £350 among them. At a similar price you could have Arctic Dust White, a quartz at £280, which is a different material doing a different job for roughly the same money.

On a job with an undermount sink, a hob cut-out and a mitred island the fabrication can outrun the difference between two bands. Get the quote itemised and decide where the money does the most work.

The photograph above is indicative. Screens shift colour, and batches vary, so a slab can read warmer or cooler than an image suggests. We hold offcuts of the Worktop Worx quartz collection only, so we cannot post you a piece of this one. It is ordered in by the slab, and the slab is what you would be shown before anything is cut.

Supply cost

What Sahara Stone costs for a typical kitchen

At £280/m² supply, the slab for the 2.82 m² L-shape on our layout costing comes to about £790, and the 4.44 m² L-shape with an island about £1,243.

If you choose it

What happens after you pick a colour

  1. A written quote

Send the sizes, a plan or a few photographs. A person prices it and itemises every piece, cut-out and edge.

  2. The template visit

Two to three hours for a typical kitchen. We digitally template every run, record wall run-out, unit heights and appliance positions, agree with you where the joins will fall and where the tap holes and drainer grooves go, and confirm the edge profile.

  3. Fitted in 5–10 working days

Sahara Stone is cut to that template and fitted 5 to 10 working days from template, with a 5-year workmanship guarantee.

Before you commit

What you pay, and when you can still change your mind

Nothing to see the price

The survey and the written quote cost nothing and carry no deposit. Your written quote states when the deposit falls due, and the balance is due before installation. Every cut-out, edge and join is priced on its own line.

Cancel before the template

Up to the template visit you can cancel and we refund any deposit paid, less anything already spent reserving material. After it, the stone is cut to your kitchen and cannot be put back, which is why we template rather than work from your measurements. Read the terms

Something to show them

If someone else has to agree, the quote is itemised so it can be read line by line by whoever is checking it, and we can arrange to show you the actual slab before it is cut. What the guarantees cover

Questions

Sahara Stone worktop questions

01

How much is a Sahara Stone sintered stone worktop?

£280 per square metre, supply only. At that rate the slab for a 2.82 m² L-shape comes to about £790 before fabrication and fitting, which are quoted itemised. That puts Sahara Stone 45th of the 71 sintered stone surfaces we fit, counting up from the cheapest, against a sintered stone median of £261.

02

Does Sahara Stone need sealing?

No, Sahara Stone never needs sealing. Sintered stone has effectively zero porosity, so there is nothing to reapply.

03

Can I put a hot pan on Sahara Stone?

Yes. There is no resin in sintered stone, so nothing in it can scorch and a hot pan straight off the hob does it no harm.

04

Can I get a sample of Sahara Stone?

We post samples of the Worktop Worx quartz collection only, so there is no posted sample of Sahara Stone; ask when you request a quote and we will tell you how to see the stone.

05

How long does Sahara Stone take to fit?

5–10 working days from template. We template once your base units are fitted and level, cut Sahara Stone to that template and fit it, with a 5-year workmanship guarantee and a 25-year material warranty.

06

Who makes Sahara Stone, and is it a Cosentino stone?

Sahara Stone is part of Karexa, our own range of sintered stone; it is not a Cosentino product. Cosentino sells its sintered stone under its own name, and the two are the same kind of material: mineral powders compacted under very high pressure and fired, with no resin in them.

Sintered stone

Why you would choose sintered stone

Sintered stone is the most durable of the three: highly scratch and heat resistant, and thin enough to take a fine mitred edge.

The standard thicknesses are 20mm and 30mm. Where you want a chunkier look, we mitre the edge (a 20mm slab folded down to give a 40mm or 60mm apron), which reads as solid stone without the weight or cost of a genuinely thick slab.
